So this isn't about my bearded dragon but it's about someone else's. I don't know this person that well but they keep posting pictures on social media of their dragon and it looks like it has MBD. I'm almost positive and I've also seen a picture of the setup and it looks like the UVB light is not over the basking spot and it's on top of the screen so it's blocking a lot of light out. The dragon looks so miserable and I'm sure it's in pain. My question is would you guys say something to this person? Ik this isn't something people usually post about but I'm really struggling with what to do. It's all I've been thinking about bc I love my dragon SO much and if he had a disease I wasn't aware of I'd want someone to tell me so I could do something about it. But I'm also afraid that this isn't my business and I don't want to sound like a know it all. Any advice?

Are there pics of it that you could post here ? If it has obvious deformities and/or very lethargic + sick acting you might just bring it to their attention in a non accusatory, friendly way.

You might ask about his activity level and mention it if he has deformities of any kind, mention that there have been many pet stores selling the wrong bulbs that are causing problems in b.d.'d and that this can be helped or reversed using the right bulbs + supplements and the beardie can live a much longer life. Put the blame on the stores + the improper equipment rather than on the owner. That may be all you can do, but maybe it will work.

I do have pictures and I will post them so you can confirm in right about the MBD but Idk if she uses this site so I'll delete them after. That sounds like a good idea. I don't think I can let this go bc if her dragon dies I will feel so bad that I never said anything. But at this point it might be too late to fix

It looks like there's a hump on the back which would indicate MBD, but nothing else like a bad jaw or legs. The dragon has been very well fed, even a tad bit chubby and the fact that she gets outside is good and the bit of cage decor showing in the pic indicates that the owner seems to care for this beardie at least. :)

But yes, you might just mention that it's been found that the uvb bulb on top of the screen and being on the opposite side of the basking area diminishes the strength and this is very important for continued bone maintenance as well as all body functions.

Do you know if she's had the b.d. for a long time or possibly received it in that condition ?

To me it looks like there's a kink in the tail too. She got hers as a baby so she's had it for about 7 or 8 months I think. Do you know if it is MBD if there's anything they can do if she takes it to the vet?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
