Need advice on Coccidia!!!

I am beside myself right now!? my beautiful Mushu has been diagnosed with Coccidia. The vet told me in all his 29 years of being a vet he has never seen that many in one stool sample! He said this could have been brought on from stress. He has prescribed her Albon once a day at 0.2ml. My questions are has anyone have a diagnosis of the same effect and if the dragon made a 180 and survived. He told me that it can be deadly. I just can't imagine not having my baby here.

It can be deadly but it's also treatable. Albon is an older med that can be harsh on them though so be careful. You might want to discuss using Ponazuril instead as it's less harsh and quite effective. It's also important to keep everything clean and sanitized. Everything that comes in contact with contaminated poop should be cleaned then sanitized with a mix of ammonia and water.

Totally agree with Cooper, yes he can survive it, but I wouldn't be giving him the Albon at all, it's a Sulfa-drug which can actually be fatal itself to dragons, and cause a host of other issues. Plus it's not nearly as effective as the Toltrazuril is. So yes, please call your vet immediately and tell them that you do not want to put the dragon on the Albon, but rather Toltrazuril/Ponazuril immediately, as it's not nearly as hard on the dragon and it's far more effective and works in much shorter dosages.

Also, you need to keep him very well-hydrated, so I'd be offering him water and/or unflavored Pedialyte on his snout to lick off several times throughout each day, give him as much as he'll lick off in a sitting.

I also forgot to mention putting him on a daily dose of a Probiotic immediately as well, BeneBac is the one I suggest, you should give him this an hour or two before you give him the Toltrazuril, this will keep his tummy from getting upset by the medication, and also keep the normal, healthy bacteria in his GI Tract alive to prevent any secondary fungal infections.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
