Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

Castiel is doing well, he's in his hide every night, covers himself with newspaper and gets a good sleep, I just have to usually pull him out in the am :lol: He's enjoying his new basking spot and enjoys his roams around the living room and sitting outside in the sunshine. He also likes to snuggle. He hasn't started eating greens himself yet, so yesterday, while I had him on my lap, I fed him some greens, which he ate very well. So I'm hopeful he'll start eating his greens as well as his supers. He's done a poop since he got here, I'm hoping he'll start in the bath like he did at home. All in all, he's enjoying his new home.

Nathaniel is starting to get used to having another male dragon in the house, he doesn't like it much and is very snuggly lately, but that's ok :mrgreen:

My friend Catherine came over on Sunday. She loves all animals and fell in love with Nathaniel. She thought the others were great, too, but once she held Nathaniel, he just glued himself to her LOL. At one point I had to remove him from her hair :lol: She doesn't have any reptiles, has 2 cats, but told her she's welcome anytime.

While Nathaniel was busy with Catherine, I had Castiel out and he homed in on the chaise on the floor, he really liked it:

That morning Nathaniel was out in the sunshine and decided to come in, but he got stuck, silly dragon. I had to help him "HELP MOM, I'M STUCK" :lol:

Then as I was walking by Leo's tank I found him like this: "Hey there, how you doing?"

And later that night I found this odd pose while he was sleeping. How in the world could this possibly be comfy? :roll:

So I had to put him on his basking platform, I couldn't leave him that way.

Cierra is getting bigger and bigger and isn't eating much. Just some greens. So I made my usual Carnivore Care mix and she ate alot, I'm going to give her some more and another bath today, too. I have a feeling she'll be laying soon, but she'll have to wait until Sunday for the lay box. I'm hoping she'll lay when I'm home, otherwise, she'll have to lay in her tank. Can't put her in the box when I'm going to work, I'm home to late. Oh well, we'll see how that goes.

Looks like Nathaniel found a new friend. Was that the first time Catherine and Nathaniel met? If so, that was quite the first meeting.
Nathaniel should re-think before he acts upon this thoughts. It looks as if he overestimated his climbing abilities

Castiel looked almost white sitting on the chaise lounger. Was he that happy to have found such a comfy seat?

I guess Leo got tired of standing up, waiting for whatever, and just clunked out & down. What a silly goose! :lol:

Leo just cracked me up, he's never stood up like that before in the 5 years I've had him and then to come home to that pose, that really hurt my neck, just looking at him Gina, I think you're right, it does look as if he just clunked down in the same spot. He is a silly goose :lol:

Nathaniel was just so funny with Catherine, he really is very needy since Castiel moved in, so it was nice to have him snuggle with her for the afternoon. Then he spent 3 hours on me in the evening, like I said, he's been very needy, but I'm sure that will pass, at least I hope so.

And that was a definite miscalculation coming over that barrier, he's come over it fine before. Gabriel gets stuck on his way up. Only Cierra has it down pat, she's over it all the time and never gets stuck.

Gina, that was because of my camera, it was very sunny and I couldn't get a good picture, but I had to take that, first time he found that comfy chaise. I think all of mine have sat on it now, it's a very popular toy. I got a better picture of Castiel today, he has beautiful red markings going down each side of his spine.

I think Cierra is getting close, she dug up all the newspaper in her hide today. I'm hoping she can hold off until Sunday, if not, guess she'll lay in her hide. I'm at work every day this week, Saturday I'm the chiro, then my brother's for an oil change (if he's home) then to my folks to celebrate Father's Day with my dad. That way I can stay home on Sunday.

Do you suppose that Nathaniel wants to be the baby of the family? Could that be why he'd been so needy and clinging since Castiel's arrival?

I'm sure that's it, he seems to be doing better now that he sees he gets as much attention as Castiel does. They each get an hour sunshine in the am, I'm even giving them their baths at the same time. Things are settling down. Castiel didn't go into his hide tonight to sleep, he's sleeping where Puff did, beside his basking log

So Cierra laid 24 fertile eggs this am. She ate 2 big dubia and 8 superworms this afternoon. She laid them about 10:30 and took her hardly any time at all. Once she was done, she just wanted out for bath & water, then food. She still running around on the balcony! It's 6p, the sun's not on it anymore but she's all over the place. I just repotted 6 plants and I wouldn't let her out, she eats the vermiculite. So now the balcony is all swept and she's been out there for the last 20 minutes, checking everything out. The boys have been asleep for the last 1 1/2 hrs or longer! She is something else with her energy level.

She down to 301g from 398. Those were big eggs, just like last time. I'm really hoping she's done with egg laying now.

Cierra is something else. Digi didn't recover that fast; she was exhausted for nearly 12 hours after laying her two fertile clutches.

Hi Gina, I think it's because she's so young. She finally crashed just now, so she's been up for more than 12 hours, getting into everything, checking out everything I did today & that's after she lay the 24 eggs. She's got alot of energy!

I just have 9 more pages to go to be caught up, but I had to come up here to the present so I could cry about Puff. Dear sweet Puff... it's so not fair. Of all the stupid meds out there for humans, why can't one of these drug companies come up with an egg suppressor for dragons?!? I was so hoping this would "fix" Puff. At least she's with the lost boys now and they are complete again. My glasses have fogged up. I'm gonna be a wreck when it's time for mine to go. Probably need counseling... so not fair.
