We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy

Sounds like there are quite a few of us with female egg laying problems  Daedles laid her 2nd clutch this year barely 10 days ago, she's been inhaling big horns like no ones business but I haven't seen her fat pads filling in yet. I hope she's not getting ready for another clutch already :/ Luckily it's really easy to give her supplements, she knows only tasty things come out of the syringe so she actually gets excited when I come over with it

Lucky you, Jen, that Daedes likes supplements. Only Cierra gives me issues when it comes to the syringe. She's ok once I get her started, it's getting her started. Gabriel likes to eat the darned things, so luckily I have alot, so can recycle the damaged ones. Puff and Nathaniel lick everything up, Leo has to be fed whatever he needs, but he's ok with it. They're all so different.

I hope Daedes is done for awhile, at least recuperate in between. I know of alot of others who's females are laying clutch after clutch. I'm hoping that stops soon. It's always a worry when they go one after the other. If Puff can't be spayed yet, this will be her 6th clutch since September

Hi Deb.

guess who just laid 18 eggs this afternoon between about 5:00 and 5:30 pm today? I hope she starts eating a lot tomorrow as they are both asleep now. She started eating just after her first clutch (March 22, 2015) but not as much as we'd hoped. She must have started making eggs shortly after laying the first time. We pray she will wait for awhile this time to let her get a lot of weight back on.

Hope so, too, Lori. Will have the bee pollen & Carnivore Care in the mail on Monday am.

Had a great time tonight with my nephew Cole, niece Emily and my brother Richard. Spaghetti supper and Avengers 2 movie, great stuff! Then spent time with my brother Dave & s-i-l Annika & their dog Choco to end the evening.

I'm a bit concerned with Cierra, she's not eating any bugs but is eating some greens here and there. The bumps are getting bigger, I'm hoping she'll lay soon. I did put her in the lay box but all she kept doing was eating the soil. Will make another mix tomorrow to see if she'll eat that. Can't figure out why she's eating the potting soil, though, or is it just new so she's licking it to figure out what it is. I'll try her in it again later on this week when I'm home.

Goodness gracious! All of this egg laying business is making me tired.

Sorry that Lil Squirt had laid so many eggs, Lori. I hope that will be it for her so she can start eating and putting on some weight.

How much of the soil is Cierra eating? Maybe there's something in it that she thinks she's lacking?
I hope she's not like MoMo where she will only lay eggs outside in the natural dirt

Well, Cierra only has the lay box or her tank, she won't be going outside beyond the balcony. There's that, anyway. She ate 4 mls of the mix this am, so she'll be getting that daily. She'll eat some of her greens once in awhile but no bugs at all, so the mix will help, as it's got turkey w/veg as well as butternut squash babayfood, bee pollen and Carnivore Care, so that will give her lots of protein. She seemed surprised that she liked it! So daily.

Tomorrow Puff goes to the vet to confirm the surgery on Thursday. She'll have to stay at the vet overnight, because I have to work Friday, but that will do her alot of good, as she'll be in their incubator, so will have lots of warmth. Then I pick her up on Sat am & have 4 days with her before I have to go back to work, just for a day, then off again for a day, then back to regular hours. I'm hoping by then she'll be feeling much better & will have seen the vet today. We'll see how that goes. She's not flirting at all anymore, so I'm hoping to be wrong and she doesn't have eggs in her.

And I agree, Gina, I'm so fed up with eggs, not just my girls, but everyone else's, too. Alot of my friends are having issues with their girls after they lay, lack of appetite, etc, so we're all helping each other with our own experiences and trying to find solutions for everyone. Guess it is egg laying season. Hopefully your girls just give you a break this summer, Gina!

We had such a great time yesterday, here are a couple of pics, have lots more but have to get to work. My sis and brother have more, I've asked they send me some as they have the pics of us all playing bocco, which was alot of fun and I think we played altogether for 3 hours!

I'll have to do the pics later, I"m running out of time, need to get to work!

Thanks Kami, I put Cierra's dig box in the house, put her in it but she didn't know what to do. I'm going to try again while I have lunch, then put her in along the way. I'm hoping she lays them soon. At least she ate lots of the mix I make up. Nathaniel and Puff ate some, too. I'm going to make that for her daily as she's not eating at all now.

Hope Puff will get the green light for her surgery on Thursday, and then you'll be all done with worrying about her and eggs every year.

Do you think that Puff needs to show Cierra on how to dig to lay her eggs? Or, you can play one of MoMo's "digging to China" videos and hope that Cierra knows what's going on :laughing6:

Hi Gina, Puff got the green light, she's healthy and everything is good. No eggs either, yeah! So I'll drop her off on Thursday am, she'll stay at the vet for Friday as I couldn't get the day off and I'll pick her up on Friday am. I'm so worried but I trust my vet, so hope all goes well.

Cierra got the drift a few minutes later, she dug to China for 2 hours and I found her with her snout against the cardboard on the bottom, fast asleep. So I picked her up and gave her and bath & then put more soil in the box, now she has a good 10" at least to dig in.

Puff would never use her lay box, she always laid her eggs, 1 or 2 a day, in her tank while on her basking log. She's a strange one for laying, that's for sure.

Here's Cierra:

I found her the biggest box I could find, it's 10 1/2" tall & has at least 9 1/2" of soil in it. She's digging away again, we'll see how long it lasts tonight. I'm going to put her light back on & keep it on until she goes to sleep. I have to leave in an hour, but will put that off if she's still digging.

I have pics to post of the picnic on Sunday but here's one anyway, Cole and Choco enjoying the beach

Aww, look at Cierra all covered up in dirt! :D
You're so lucky that no one demands (that's putting it lightly) to go outside to lay her eggs.
Let's hope that she'll get the perfect hole dug out and lay her eggs.

I'm sure that your vet will take great care of Puff, but I know that won't make you stop worrying.

Hi Gina, Cierra is just so cute & when she gets to the bottom of a hole she's dug, she gets stuck & then falls asleep, it's just hilarious. Tomorrow, when I get home from dropping Puff off at the vet, I'll be keeping an eye on her and turn her around once she gets to the bottom of a hole to see what she does. It's been so long since I had a dragon in a dig box (Puff hated it and it's been since 2011 for Sweetie) that I wasn't sure how long it took before they get down to laying. I have to work on Friday but then I'm home until next Wednesday. I'll feel much better about Puff when I hear from the vet tomorrow afternoon. I have to take worms and greens in for her to eat on Friday. I'll be so glad to get her home on Saturday am, I'll be there at 9a to pic her up.

And yes, I'm glad I'm on the 3rd floor balcony, so there's nowhere outside for Cierra to dig. I remember you sitting out with MoMo for hours last time she lay. Hopefully she & Digi just never mind this summer.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
