Nathaniel, Cierra, Castiel, Freya, Grrl; RIP GABRIEL

We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

I agree, and aging beardies shouldn't think they're kamizake juvies either! Wouldn't surprise me if he was getting on bd.org while I wasn't looking, little bugger :mrgreen: I'm just glad I've been home getting over this virus so I've been able to keep better care of him. He'd better not do that again, his lung can't take any more punishment. Thanks for looking in on my guy.

Well, I should probably be put away, but I bought another beardie today. He'd been dropped off at my pet shop, got a good price for him, so he's coming home tomorrow; he'll be in Sweetie's old tank. Already ordered a power sun for him. He's really pretty but skinny, he'll be going to the vet with Lonzo to be checked out. He's eating supers & lots of salad, so maybe I'll actually have a beardie that won't have to be hand fed!

I'll put up pics tomorrow when I get home, not sure if he'll have relocation stress, but I picked him up at the pet shop & he cuddled & wouldn't let go. So I think he'll fit in just fine. I am crazy taking on another, but I couldn't resist him, he needed a good home.

YAY, CONGRATULATIONS Deb. I actually figured that it wouldn't be long before you got another. Having empty tanks is so depressing and just not right. Don't worry, we won't let you be put away. :wink: In fact, I'm getting the "new beardie itch" myself. :lol:

I couldn't resist him. I went to the shop to pick up supers & he was in a small tank, but with UVB & a basking light. The person who was counting out the supers said he'd been dropped off and he was really skinny but had gained weight since. I picked him up & he cuddled so hard, he tried to hide in my coat. Well that was it, I made a great deal, put down a small deposit & I get him tomorrow am. I have no idea what colours he is, but checked under his tail & he's a male all right. He needs a good bath, lots of food and cuddling & he'll have lots of room in Sweetie's tank. All her furniture is still in there, hide & everything, so will wash out the tank in the am, put newspaper in (I'm not dealing with repticarpet anymore) and set up the basking area. I still have an old power sun that still works, so he can have that until I get the new lights on Saturday. I'm so excited, he's such a cutie. I'll make him a big salad & get a bowl to put worms in, as I really want him to eat his salad & worms on his own. I"ll take lots of pics after he's had a good bath & some liquid calcium, as I don't think the pet shop has been giving him anything in that regard. He'll be on the same routine as the other 4. Plus he's going to the vet with Lonzo (I had 2 carriers I take them in so they can't see each other) as I want to make sure he's healthy. Hopefully I'll get a poop out of him to, so can check for parasites. I"m glad he'll be in my bedroom, I think my crew would scare him to death!

Diane, if you're thinking of getting another beardie, get a male so you won't ever have to worry about eggs. And that's for the congrats all of you! Yes, Dawn, we're all a bit beardie crazy!

Congratulations on your new arrival! I've been noticing lately that beardie babies don't take 9 months to arrive - it's usually more like split minute impulse decisions!! lol Can't wait to see pictures! How did you pick his name?

Hi, thanks for the congrats. I picked name on the way home, it just came into my head & I thought it would suit him. The pet shop opens at 10a, so I'll be there shortly after, just have to feed my crew first. They all had baths, calcium & poops today, so they'll be ready for a good feed tomorrow am. I'm very excited about the new arrival & am glad I still have a few days off to spend with him. I'm going to leave him in his tank in my bedroom until next weekend, just take him out in my room for now, don't want him to have a heart attack being bobbed, black bearded & foot stomped at by the 3 in the living room, Didi, Lonzo & Leo. Rubio won't care, as his tank is behind the couch & he can't see into the living room. Gabriel is about Didi's size, but he's meant to be a much bigger beardie, I can tell by his build, so I'll be so glad to get some weight on him, poor baby.

I am so glad you decided (if impulsively) to get Gabriel. He will help heal your heart. You've been thru so much lately. You certainly deserve whatever makes you happy. Can't wait to see the pics!

Mika was scratching in her Viv today! You don't think she'll have eggs again, do you? I don't think her system could manage it because of the MBD. She ate really good today and I fixed her background so she can't continue to make goo goo eyes at Gizmo across the room. I hope that helps.

I checked up on Frankie's grades today and he's failing every class except gym and health He is giving me alot of gray hair. Just when I thought we were out of the woods....

Thanks for the congrats, Jane, I really didn't think I'd get another dragon, but I just couldn't leave him there. When I picked him up, he cuddled & tried to climb inside my coat, so I guess it was just meant to be. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the gov't will be true to their word & my income tax refund will be in my account tomorrow, because without that I won't be able to get him & get Lonzo & him to the vet tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about Frankie, he reminds me so much of Eric. I got lot so gray hair because of that kid. He almost failed high school, but squeaked through with C-. When he was in grade school (here it's from Gr 1 to Gr 7) I had to check with the teacher every Friday to make sure he hadn't fallen behind on anything, and he stayed home lots of weekends to catch up. He had tutors & in until Grade 9 had learning assistance. I also had to check with his high school teachers every week to make sure he didn't fall behind with high school stuff either, it was such a pain in the neck, but worth it in the end as he did graduate. We had a big party when he did, I was so happy not to have to deal with any of it anymore. So good luck with that, you're going to need to keep on top of it with him.

I'll get pics of everyone up tomorrow, got some loaded up but they're at home & I'm at my s-i-l with my nephews until she gets back from the hospital. Her dad's been very sick, he's 86 & hasn't been taking care of himself, so he'll be in for awhile. He fell & hurt his neck & they think there is further damage further down his spine, too. He should be getting an MRI tomorrow or the next day, so they'll know more then.

Thanks Lori & Nicodemous, I'm so looking forward to getting Gabriel home. But have to scrub out Sweetie's old tank 1st & redecorate. Also need to find the one good old power sun I still have until I get the new one on Saturday. "So much to do tomorrow am!
