We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy

Hi Mike, go back 2 pages, that will give you an idea. He flipped over again today, that will be the third or fourth time he's done this. He really doesn't act his age, you'd think at 9 yrs old he'd stop doing this type of thing. Anyway, the pillow that he likes to drag around is off the floor, I took the pic of Sweetie (his love object) out & put that out for him to find tomorrow, at leave he can't flip over with a picture in his mouth. His lung, I guess it's the right side, not the left as I said before, I get confused, but it's not as fully functional as it was. It looks a bit caved in. He's starting to breath a bit better but not as well as I expected by now. It's been 3 weeks since he first flipped over. So if he's not breathing better by the end of the week I'll have to take him back to the vet, drives me nuts & I'm going broke. At least I get paid on Friday, so will have some extra I can use. There are also some new pics of the 4 of them on the previous page or two, so start there.

Didi was a cuddle bum again tonight, I swear that little guy would spend the day on my shoulder if he could. It was almost 9p before I put him to bed & he was sound asleep on my shoulder. He tried to protest, but it was late, so he finally fell asleep & I covered him up. I'll be glad when he gets his light next Sunday.

Rubio stayed under his new light until 5:30, when he finally collapsed on his cool side with his eyes 1/2 shut. So I put him to bed. Lonzo was still up then, but it was time for him to sleep, too, didn't take long to tuck him in. Leo was up until 7p, he likes to keep an eye & a black beard on Didi, who was on the ramp as usual. Those two love to hate each other!

Lonzo was the 2nd beardie we got. We adopted Sweetie in 2006 when she was 4 mo old, then adopted Lonzo in Sept/08 when Sweetie was 2 1/2 yrs old. They were crazy for each other & I would have bred them, but we couldn't afford to raise babies, so when they saw each other (which wasn't often) they went through the whole courtship bobbing, etc, it was fun to watch. When Sweetie had time out, she always went looking for Lonzo, even though he was in a different room. So yes, they really wanted to be together. So a few years I found that pillow in a dollar store, made up a pic of Sweetie & put it in & Lonzo's been carrying it around for a few years now. But never was flipping over, that was new. So now he'll have the picture to haul around, I'll see if he pays attention, if he doesn't I might have a frame I can put it in, he can haul that around!
Everyone just got up, 'cause I just got up, so they have time to warm up before I feed them. I'm waiting for a call about a plumber to come fix the shower thingy that turns it on & off, it's broken. Hopefully that's the last thing that falls apart in this apartment!

Lonzo was so funny when he saw the pic of Sweetie without the pillow, he licked her face & left the pic where it was. Oh well, at least he didn't flip over!

So did mine, I'm glad he remembers her as they were really hot for each other when they first met! He tried to jump on her when Roger introduced him, luckily they were each side of his feet & he knocked Lonzo off, but that love affair lasted for years! I sure miss my Sweetie!

Hi Deb! You've had such a hard last year with losing Issy (that arm waving pic is still my all time fav :D ), then Roger, then Sweetie. You are truly extraordinary and strong! Doesn't it feel like everytime you turn around, something is going on with a beardie? We've been in this pattern for a few months now and I'm ready for it to pass! lol I know how you feel about missing Sweetie. I still miss little Spike. Whenever I hear "Soak up the Sun" by Cheryl Crowe I think of my little sun worshipper.

I'm sorry to hear about Lonzo but if he's half as resilient as you, he'll be fine. Although he's a geriatric beardie, he's still big and strong. I can't believe your vet said he's under weight! I think his size is great. He's definitely not too small IMO. I'm trying to remember, did you say it's Didi who likes to jump? Gizmo, our resident knucklehead, will jump right out of his enclosure if I'm not quick enough with the door or putting the ramp there. The only problem with this sky diving routine is Gizmo has the deluxe 2nd story condo (lol) so he's jumping roughly 26"! He has NO FEAR! Gizmo is my only beardie who is resistant to my spoiling. He just wants to do his own thing :D

I'm not glad to hear that you have probs with PB too but I am glad to hear I'm not the only one :)

Now, Mika is still driving me NUTS! She's only laid 4 eggs total. The last one was yesterday. All 4 she laid in her viv but she digs like crazy in the laybox. I'm at a loss. I'll be PMing you tomorrow. Thanks for all the guidance.

Oh, and thanks for unlocking my thread again

Hi Jane it's, so good to hear from you. I'll answer your PM tomorrow about Mica. Glad you like my crew, last year was not so good with losing Roger & Sweetie, but this year is turning out much better. As for Lonzo he was only 516, which is a bit too low for him, he has a big frame, so now he's 530g & that looks much better on him. I'm still worried about that lung, so will have to see about going to the vet, I'm giving him until the end of this week, but will get him into a bath tomorrow, he jumps around alot, and that seems to get that lung going.

I'm off to check out your thread.

So I just got notice that my income tax refund will be in my account on Thursday, oh joy, oh joy, now I can get Lonzo in the vet tomorrow, don't have to wait. I'm so excited!!!!!!!

Lonzo's lung isn't moving again, so now I'm really worried. I'm just waiting for a call back from the vet, but since it's been an hour, I'm going to call now & get an appt in tomorrow if the vet is in, I can't remember what day she's not in during the week, maybe later today. I'll let you know.

That's great Deb that your refund has arrived. Sorry to hear that Lonzo is still having some lung issues, that has to be scary. Hopefully the vet can help make him 100% again very soon. Thinking of both of you.

Yay on taxes!!

Boo on Lonzo's lung! :( did you get your appointment? I'll be checking back for an update...

Side thought though - Have you considered taking the stuffing out of Lonzo's pillow? then he can still have the object (the pillow but without stuffing so is it still a pillow? hehe) with the picture on it - so it will still be soft and he can snuggle it and drag it around still?

That is a sweet "Love" story though

The pillow is on the couch where he can't get to is & Sweetie's pic is on the floor propped up at the end of the ramp. He gave her a kiss when he found the pic but hasn't been hauling it around. I've removed everything in his tank that is more than 1" high, so he can't flip over anymore & he's not allowed outside time unless I'm there watching him like a hawk. He's not going to flip over anymore. He thinks he's a juvie, even though he's 9 years old, the brat. He has an appointment on Thursday at 4:45p, so I'm hoping my vet with have something good to get his lung going again. I go back to work full time next Wednesday, so he'll be in his tank for the day, so won't be able to flip and I'll have peace of mind. None of my other beardies have ever done this, only Lonzo. Well he won't be flipping anymore. He was really annoyed when I took his hide out, but it's 4" high & he liked to jump on top of it, but he won't be getting it back for awhile. So I'll let you know on Thursday night how the vet visit goes. Thanks for taking an interest, I really appreciate the support.

poor booger! (they're all boogers aren't they? making us worry like crazy - my HEALTHY one threw up tonight :banghead: ) Good luck at the vet on Thursday! Maybe if you give him extra blankies you'll get less stink eye? :whip:

Maybe he was just practicing his turtle impression? he's jealous of Pookie and Buddy's friendship?? - Sneaky dragons getting onto BD.org while we're at work!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
