We never expected to get another dragon, but our neighbours next door wanted to give away Cleo, as he was called. We'd babysat him before, he's such a sweetheart. We nicknamed him Velcro because when he snuggles he never wants to go back to his viv, he hangs on as if he's made out of velcro.

So here he is. Today was his first day with us. He ate 13 supers and ate some squash, not bad for the first day he was here. He's only in a 30 gallon tank, which will be ok for now. He's 18" long but weighs only 200g. We figure he's probably 2 yrs old. Our neighbours rescued him last fall, they found him and a female (which they named Puff) on Craig's list. They were in a 30 gallon dirty tank, with sand and a huge log that took up 1/2 the space in the tank. Leo was at the bottom, he was sooooo skinny. He's gained weight, but never got the attention he deserved. I took some pics today, but will take more tomorrow. I think he remembers our place as didn't get stressed as I expected. No stress marks at all. When we let him run around the living room, he noticed our girls and immediate black beard, so his hormones are working!

He had a bath this morning, had a big poop, no smell, so not worried about parasites.

So here are a few pics, he's a yellow & dark gray, light gray colour.

Under the communal power sun in the living room:

Discovering there are girls in those tanks up above, he has a great black beard for such a skinny boy:

On the couch, he's got a pretty diamond pattern on his back:

Hope you enjoy
Deb and my six dragons :D      :( :love5:

Dawn, that's so funny, because that's just what I did & what a stink eye I got, plus a beard again  It's so funny when smaller dragons puff themselves up, I get such a kick out of it.

Thanks Lindz, isn't he though  I'll have to do it again so I can get pictures of the full display!

Thanks Esther, for checking him out, I just can't seem to stop taking pics of him!

And no, Matt, you can't have him, Noodle would be jealous  I worked so hard to get him home and here he stays.

So I have decided to leave Titan where he is and Did gets the new tank. As he's hardly ever in his tank, it will work out better. I want Titan to stay where he is so he doesn't have to get used to a new space. I'll see how Didi reacts to having Rubio right across from him, it will give him a chance to black beard again, as he doesn't do it much when he's the King of the Ramp. He'll get the new hide, his basking brick has been completely washed & disinfected and is on the living room floor so Titan doesn't get near it. Just need to get him something to climb on, will check the dollar stores next week. I found out the lights are coming in soon, but Titan gets the new one and Didi will get the one in his tank right now. I have to let the petshop know I'll be wanting the 5 from the credit I have, so all of them will have new lights. That will be good for them all.

And my son called me tonight out of the blue, to invite me over on Saturday to celebrate Mom's day, as I'll be at my sister's to celebrate with my mom. I was so surprised and pleased as this will be the first time I'll be over to their new place. His girlfriend is now 12 weeks away from her due date and has been put on bed rest due to her bad back (don't know how she's going to manage a baby with her back in such bad shape) so hopefully her mom can get over often during the week and I can get over on the weekend to help. It's starting to sink in that I'm going to be a grandma by August!

Hey Deb! I finally talked Mike into stop buying crickets and get superworms instead! :blob5: I told him how you (and others) feed them to your beardies all the time and they are fine.. he said he will just start buying 500 supers at a time instead of crickets then. They are ok for every day feeding right?? I'm just getting tired of cleaning out tons of dead crickets everyday and having them stink up the house. I posted more about it on my thread if you want to check it out.. got new pictures up as well.

Love the pictures of Titan.. it does look like he got into your makeup  Glad to hear you're gonna spend some time with your son and family on Saturday :) Have a great day! Happy Mother's Day! (if I don't get on before that).

I don't think super worms are meant to be fed as a staple but more as a treat because of them being fattening

Matt, I"ve been feeding my whole crew supers as a staple for 5 years, I've had Lonzo checked numerous times and he's fine. I just don't feed them more than 50 per week each, which is the max you should be feeding adults bugs. So I don't agree with your statement. They won't eat crickets and I brought in silkies once and they were also refused. The worms I get are actually kingworms, a cousin of supers and less fatty, maybe that makes the difference, even though from the research I've done, they are so similar as to be the same. My crew chew those supers to mush before they swallow, so there's no chance of any bites in their tummies. Even Titan has a few small ones here and there. I also don't feed worms every day, just every other day. My crew to go the vet annually for a check up and so far they're all very healthy. I keep my eye on them every day to make sure nothing crops up and if it does, it's a trip to the vet.

So right now Titan is going nuts in his tank because Rubio is on the living room floor enjoying sunshine. Titan is black bearding, glass dancing; guess he wants to try to fight Rubio, who is 800g  Titan would make a good snack for Rubio. Guess Spring Fever is hitting Titan badly, what a beardie, so fierce, guarding his territory  I had to calm him down a bit, but he would have non of Mom interference. At least he's back on his basking spot, even if he's still bobbing. Meanwhile Rubio is enjoying the sun & oblivious of Titan. Never a dull moment in my house! :laughhard: I'm just such a beardie slave! :whip: :whip: :whip:

I'm glad, Tammie, that Mike's allowing supers, as an adults he shouldn't have more than 50 a day, so figure 7 a day for him, that will keep his weight up but not be too much so he won't eat his salad. And supers live a long time, as long as they're well fed, so make sure to give them greens every night. Mine love collard greens, that's also how they get their water. But don't water the greens before you give it to them, that way the substrate doesn't get wet and start rotting. This method has worked for me for years.

Hi Liz, I was so surprised to be invited over; I really never thought I would be, so it was nice to hear from him. He's going to call & let me know what time, it won't be a long visit, but I don't care, it'll be good to see Tara and to see Bella, their little terrier that loves me, I've missed them all. And then to spend the day at my sis's on Sunday, that's going to be fun, too. Have to get my mom some carnations, it's her favourite flowers, or maybe gerber daisies, will have to see what's available at the flower shop. Got paid today, so that's a good thing!

Yay for money! I got paid today as well.

I'm thinking about trying supers for Jace since he has gone picky on me.

He's over 16" long, right? That's the min length for beardies to eat supers. If he is, go for it, he may just love them like my crew do!

Hey Deb, I'm of the opinion that tiny supers are just fine for little dragons. I've seen a lot of controversy on it and would like your opinion. Personally, I can't stand crickets :bleick:

I don't see anything wrong with micro-supers for little dragons. I've been told that a lot of dragons eat them and thrive. I'll ask a couple of people who rescue what they think. Small supers are good for juvies and mediums for bigger juvies, then regular size for dragons over a year old. At least that's my opinion.

And Liz, Jace is ready for supers, try a few, see that there aren't any pieces in his poop and go for it. He can eat up to 10 daily at his age.

Ok, Deb, thanks! I bought 50 of them but he didn't seem too interested. He snuck in 2 male dubia when I wasn't looking.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
