Jayden's a little more relaxed today. It may take a while because his old owners ignored him for three years, and here he has to deal with the paparazzi. Once he's calmed down there'll be more pictures of him to share on the forum.

He has a vet appointment on Friday to make sure he's healthy. He eats his superworms and dubia as soon as they're put into his viv, but he pretty much ignores his salads. I put apple on his salad today to tempt him, but that didn't work. Maybe he eats mostly bugs because he needs more protein, just like a young beardie, since he is small and might need to grow some more.

His color seems to be lightening up a bit, and I'm glad to hear his mouth looks normal. :)

Here is Jayden lightening up this morning. He's gradually spending less time stress-marked. It looks like I'll need to clean his cork round, but now at least I have a stool sample for the vet. :D

Oh my isn't he just a cutie. I am so glad he found his way to you. He will not replace Baldric but will certainly fill the void. I found my Emmett the day my Geico died and have not regretted it. Emmett sometimes will do something that reminds me of Geico and looks somewhat like my Geico did. If you find yours reminding you of Baldric, I like to think that they are letting us know they are ok and that they are ok with the new dragon if that makes sense.

Congratulations on finding Jayden! He is very handsome, he actually looks almost identical to my Osiris!
Osiris' growth was stunted as he refused to eat on his own most of his baby months.
very cute!

This is Osiris!

So so similar!

Thank you, Brenda Kay! He found me only three days after Baldric’s death, and when I saw him, it was like Baldric was looking back at me. He pushed out his beard and I could see his orange face. Then he got cuddly and there was no refusing to adopt him. :)

Tonja, it's wonderful that you found Emmett, too! You’re right, sometimes it’s like having the other beardie back.

The dog completely ignores the beardie. When I put Jayden into the viv for the first time he went over to the viv, put his nose next to the glass, and quickly followed something across the kitchen floor then back around and watched it go up. I almost didn’t admit to this part because there’s already so much coincidence going on here, but that’s what happened. I was standing right there and didn’t see a fly or anything. He hates flying insects, so maybe that’s what it was and I just didn’t see it. That’s what I’m telling myself. The other possibility is just too weird. He usually snaps at insects, but there was no snapping.

Osiris looks just like Jayden!!! What a beautiful boy! And Jayden is smaller too, only 19½” long compared to 21¼” for Baldric. Jayden is also not as wide as Baldric. The good part of his being smaller is that, unlike Baldric when he was healthier, he can’t reach the top of the viv to haul himself up and escape. Playing find the beardie is no fun.

Jayden’s vet exam went well. I had some awwww moments on the way there when he kept standing up against the side of the travel crate and watching me like he was thinking, “You’re not taking me back, are you?” :(

His fecal was negative and the vet says he’s in very good shape. Even though they ignored him, they didn’t neglect his needs. His musculature is good, his eyes and ears are clear, and there’s no stuck shed. The yellowish tinge in his mouth is from his color and not jaundice. He weighs .40 kg. His liver’s the right size and everything else he could palpitate seemed perfect. His only issues are long nails, which the vet said should wait until he settles in and calms down more, and the very, very tip of his tail is dark and may or may not fall off in the future. He said that unless it falls off and bone shows Jayden doesn’t need to come in and see him again, and that it’s such a small amount at the very tip that even if it does fall off, bone may or may not even show. He said he wouldn’t worry about it because it’s such a small amount but would just watch it, and that it’s a fairly common issue with beardies. Overall he’s a very healthy boy.

After the vet exam he turned his whole body orange. That’s the second time I’ve seen him that color. Maybe he’ll do it more as he relaxes in his new home? Last night was the first time he felt safe enough to sleep out in the open on his cork round and not hidden under his beardie hammock.

Good news to start off the holiday weekend--Yay! :blob5:

Hello Christine,

That is wonderful news Jayden has a clean bill of health from the vets. I am happy to hear that. :D
I think a part of Baldric is still around & will always be.
At least he is finally settling in & his colors are lightening up too as he gets more relaxed.
He is going to be just fine!

Yay! He's going to be fine, all right. The boss is giving me the famous beardie stink-eye because breakfast has not been served. :D

It's been a stressful few weeks regarding bearded dragons, but now there's a healthy beardie ready to rule the house. This afternoon I plan to go to the store where the beardie rescue man works and buy some crickets to gutload for his Sunday dinner. It'll be fun to watch a beardie stalk crickets again.

He'll need a beardie blanket, too. I think there are a few scraps of soft material around here.

Life is getting back to normal. :)

I'm so glad to hear that Jayden's vet visit went well and that he is settling in well. What a sweetie he is, and so lucky to have you for his slave.

He’s healthy and perfect. :D

Today I saw Jayden’s rescuer and told him what a good beardie Jayden is and how much I like him, and that he’s such a nice beardie that I hope his old owners never decide they want him back. He said, “Noooo, there’s no way THAT’S going to happen.” So I guess they really didn’t like “The Lizard,” something that’s hard to believe because he’s such a nice beardie. I wouldn’t give him up anyway, he’s mine now. He was glad to hear that I think Jayden’s a great little beardie.

There’s a cricket concert going on in the house, so it’ll be nice when they’re all gutloaded and Jayden has lunch tomorrow. The ones with wings will be the first course of his meal, or maybe even breakfast.

There's a thread on the forum about salmonella in mice. Are pinkie mice a good beardie food?

Jayden does not like beardie baths. Does he need to take them, or will dropping water on to his tongue give him enough hydration?

Does it count as being a beardie slave if you freely choose to serve the bearded one?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
