I was at Petco the other day in the reptile section, checking out the different herps and products, etc. I was standing near the fridge where the keep the mealworms, waxworms, and other worms that need to be refrigerated. I had wanted to buy a tub of Calciworms just to try but every container I opened and checked already had beetles in them so I had to scratch that plan. There was a girl standing next to me looking at the shelves of commercial foods and supplements and we started talking. I asked what she was feeding and turns out she has a beardie. While talking about feeders we found that we both keep feeder roach colonies. I mentioned wanting to start a colony of lats and she told me that she had a huge colony with more than she needed and would gladly give me a bunch to start my own colony. Definitely wasn't going to turn her down lol, so a couple of days ago I went to her house and she gave me a tupperware container full of lats. I set them up in their bin yesterday and I can already tell that I'm going to like them better than the lobsters. They do climb, but not very well, but of course I put a 3" wide barrier around the top of the bin using Johnson's Lavender Baby Oil Gel (random, I know lol, but I've discovered that it works extremely well, much better than even vaseline, I think because of the consistency and I also suspect the lavender scent deters them for some reason). So far they really even haven't tried to climb up high enough to even reach the barrier. Haven't fed them to anything yet, but considering how many I was given and how quickly they breed, I'll be able to start feeding out of it pretty soon. Here are a couple of pics:
