my new beardie wont eat

we got a new beardie a wk ago on the first day we got him he ate 2 crickets then nothing the nxt day so we gave him 2 wax worms ate them then nothing the nxt day then i gave him a wax worm yest morning he ate it tried again with crickets everyday today nothing

the set up i believe is ok he 100 in the hot bit and 85 in the cooler bit but he dont go over there much-- we r keeping him hydrated and he is drinking when we drip it on him. he is alert and responsive only get him out to give him a bath every other day dont gawp at him... he hides under his log a lot but when he hears something he doesnt like and he comes back up to bask...he has pooed twice and looks ok....

the set up is 4ft viv

just getting a bit worried as he is looking thin...when we tried to feed him today he did try and get a cricket it landed on the log and yoshi went for it it moved he missed and gave up

can anyone help as our other one died from liver failure ( nothing we did) but naturally bit worried

It could still be recollection stress. Have you tried feeding him in a separate container? So that maybe the crickets can't get away from him.

We put a divider in his vivarium and put the crickets and yoshi in there, we gave him a 15 minute time frame, in this time there was very little movement from him or interest given to the crickets (although reacted when the crickets went to climb onto him)

We know these symptons tend to point to relocation stress, the main concern is with only eating 2 crickets and 4 waxworms in 7 days that our beardie will become malnurished (he has not touched any of the salad/veg provided.

Any tips from similar experiences would be grateful

I had the same problem. Mine went almost three weeks without eating much when I first bought him. Once he finally came around he ate like a pig :roll: . And turned out totally healthy. If you get really concerned you can try feeding him organic, sugar free chicken or squash baby food. As long as he doesn't become lethargic and is basking, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some dragons just get really bad recollection stress.

thank you, yeah he is basking but does spend quite a bit of time under his log.... come in from work and he is under his log, he is responsive we leave it a bit before giving him some water and trying and feed him because yesterday we came straight in and tried to feed him- also didnt realise till yesterday that his crickets were on top of his cage and suspect that this may have been causing him stress (due to noise they make during the day)- so took them away....ive heard from a reptile spec that baby food is only good for ghekos can anyone confirm as a little confused whether it's the right thing to try or not

Ok brief update,

We are convinced that our baby beardie does not like crickets, there is no interest in them and on a number of occasions Yoshi will run to the front of the vivarium and jump onto my partners hand whilst he is trying to feed him which seems to be like a cry for help type reaction due to the crickets being in his viv.

We have ordered a box of small Dubias which will hopefully get there in a couple of days, in the mean time we are going to collect some baby locusts from the pet shop today to try something different until the Dubias arrive (kind of expect the same result mind).
