I just got my first dragon 4 days ago at a local reptile convention. I went in with the intention of getting a beardy and she jumped out at me being the only citrus tiger in a tank full of red tigers. She is a little over a month old and around 11 inches long. She took her first bath today and didn't seem to sure about it so I'll try again tomorrow with a towel at the bottom of the "tub". She is very well natured and loves to explore around my dorm room and climb all over me. She will stare out of her tank longingly while I study waiting for me to let her out. My roommates suggested the name Dora (the explorer) since she fearlessly took to exploring around our apartment. She isn't a finicky eater either and will eat collard greens when they are given to her, along with around 50-60 crickets in 2-3 meals a day. I'm hoping she gets big! After wanting a bearded dragon since I was 12 I've finally been able to get one now that I've moved out and I'm loving Dora so much. This site is full of great info and nice looking people so thank you in advance!

Hmmm, well the breeder said 1- 1 1/2 months. She's about 11 inches long. I made sure to buy from a breeder that only does Dragons and the other breeders at the show recommended them to me when I said I was looking for a citrus tiger, so I'd think they'd have a good idea of her age. I was also wondering about basking temps. Most websites say 90-115f for the basking area. I've got a 50watt reptile bulb about 10 inches above a piece of flagstone, the cheap thermometer I got from the pet store says its getting about 125f on the rock. When I put my hand on the rock for awhile it's not uncomfortable but it is very warm. Should I get a less powerful bulb?

Great looking pooper ya got there,

125 seems a bit high for only a 50w bulb, im using a 60w halogen flood lamp, only costs like 5 bucks at lowes compared to the 20 petstores want for the basking lamps, and it keeps her basking spot around 106. In my opinion 125 is a little on the high end, i try and stick just below 110. the first bulb i bought was a 95w halogen flood and when i finally got a good thermometer it read around 138, so i quickly changed it out for the 60 lol.

I wonder if I need a new bulb or if the thermometer just blows then... I'll try to get my hands on a better one to see I guess.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
