My New Baby Eve!

Well at least Grunt is what I'm calling it now until I can figure out its gender. If it turns out to be a girl it's name will be Eve. (Naming it after a krogan from the Mass Effect series)

I got it at the local pet store, so I don't know too much about its husbandry other then one of its siblings was a very evident yellow/lavender citrus (someone else bought that one last week) I think it's between 6-7 inches long from head to tail. My phone kinda washes out colors so its a bit more saturated then this in person.

oh...what is that black stuff your dragon is on. Is that a shelf liner? Looks easy to clean.

Yeah it's some non adhesive shelf liner I got at Lowes. I'll take some more pictures soon, probably tomorrow. Right now I'm just letting him relax and get used to his new surroundings.

I think I'm going to see if he wants to eat.

I invaded my beardie's privacy today and I believe it's a girl! So its name is officially Eve.

I also gently sprayed her today and she really seemed to enjoy it. :mrgreen:

So how long should I wait before worrying about her appetite. I have seen her eat some things but not nearly as much as I read she should?

most babies eat a really lot of crickets and such but Rosie when we got her 4 years ago was about 3.5 months old then, from what I learned later. She only ate about 7 to 9 (usually 8) crickets every other day. She never ate a lot and only every other day would she eat a lot. For this reason I now say it depends on the beardie.

I would like to ask a couple of questions to see if there is another reason for her lack of appetite. What UVB do you have on her? What are the temps in her viv and what do you take them with?

Well I think part of the reason she's not eating is I just got her recently but to answer your question I'm using the reptisun 10.0 for UVB with nothing blocking the light. On her cool side its about 79F and 106F on her basking spot and about 96F ambient temperature in the hot side. I'm using the digital Acurite indoor/outdoor thermometer I got at walmart that uses a probe.

She had about 10 crickets today. I set up my laptop's webcam so I could spy on her from a google hangout. She's very active when I'm not in the room. :lol:

She has been pooping regularly as well so I guess I shouldn't worry.

I'm glad you have the reptisun 10 tube and the accurite thermometer with probe (we use them also). I was just wanting to make sure your husbandry was good because so many don't have the right uvb or thermometer and their beardies suffer for it if they don't get it corrected quickly.

You are right, she's probably not quite used to her new home. You might want to put a shirt you've worn and not washed in his viv with her, she'll get used to your scent quicker that way, also try to hold her at the end of the day when she's tired. When they get used to you their favorite place to be is your shoulder or the back of your neck.
