My Musical Experiment

I had Reggie out on the printer and since I was on YouTube, decided to look up some music and see his reaction to it. The following are my results:

The Beastie Boys: Death Glare
Heavy Metal of any sort: Death Glare and a Black Beard
Alice Cooper: Bored look.
Guns N Roses: Attacking speakers
Secret Garden: Sleeeeep
Dashboard Confessional: Attentive look, no stress marks, yellow, sitting by speaker.
Toby Keith: Death glare and dark colour

So I've found that Reggie likes Dashboard Confessional. He also likes the sound of my voice, although I have no idea why, I can't sing for crap. But I can't resist the urge to sing along to some songs sometimes, and he'll run up, start smiling, and sit there and listen to me sing.

I guess he likes calm music, but not too calm! Secret Garden is like a classical band in a way.... don't know my music genres that well to classify them.... but if I did it would be under classical.

What do your beardies like?

I listen to a lot of death metal, and Kaida is taking to it very well, especially at feeding time. I also listen to a lot of Tool, Floater and similar music when we hang out. She seems to really enjoy the more laid back stuff and cuddles up close when we listen to it. I listen to a ton of other stuff as well and she seems to ignore most of it. I think this is something every beardie owner should know about their own beardies. Run with this one.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed when Reg didn't enjoy the death metal as much. The only time he doesn't mind it is when he's occupied by sleeping, which is pretty often for him. He's a lazy kinda guy. Not ridiculously so, but he likes to relax. :mrgreen:

I listen to Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Krisiun, Behemoth, Hour of Penance, Deeds of Flesh, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Slayer, God Dethroned, Six Feet Under, and about a 1000 other smaller name metal bands. I also listen to stuff like Tool, Apocalyptica, Floater, Primus, Mudvayne, and other kinds of music from time to time. It's amazing that the beardies show a preference to certain things. I under stand they have a good sense of hearing. I will be keeping an eye on this thread for awhile. Maybe you could post a poll and see what the other owners have to say on the topic.

Finally someone who likes Slayer as well! My friends all think I'm crazy for it.

One the subject of Reggie and music again, I've found he likes Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains as well. Just chillin' and listening to the radio. My new goal is that my band should have approval from Reggie! Heh.

Right now he's headbobbing at me from on top of the back of my hand. I think he wants me to stop typing and pay attention to HIM. He's already tried sitting in the middle of the keyboard. I typed around him. Silly boy.

I'll have to test Queen, My Chemical Romance, and The Used on him. Then maybe some more metal bands.... haven't tried SOiL yet. The radio's spewing out the Beatles. He just started attacking the speaker. Whoops. Better get him off there....

Now he's sitting in the middle of the keyboard again. Argh.

He just heard something that involved a kazoo and some gurgling on the radio. It's reeeeaaaally weird. He managed to bite the knob thingy off the speaker. I shut the music off and fixed it-- hopefully....

Music is generally playing in my office which is also the dragons' lair (3 dragons, stacked and facing my workstation). They haven't really reacted one way or another to any of the multiple styles Pandora is pumping out. However, SweetPea enjoys making her own music. She has a small plastic web ball that contains a bell (a cat toy). She runs at it full speed and sends it flying and tinkling with a head butt. She does this over and over again throughout the day. When I bathe her, I drop her tinkle ball in and she'll flip it up out of the water with her nose just to hear the bell ring. My other dragons also have these same toys, but only SweetPea has taken to it so.

Jeffrey is surely his mothers child, I was listening to disco (yes I know) and he went from the top of the couch to the laptop screen and listened and watched the disco ball on the screen go around. He did this for at least 3 songs before he got bored and moved.

I'm a Musician and a music teacher. For an adventure, stripes took a ride with me to a saxophone lesson I was teaching.

First off- Stripes LOVES the car. I rigged up a small piece of fleece that I cut up for her blankie and put it on the dashboard so she had something to grasp going into turns, accelerating, etc... Blast loud music and drive REALLY fast and she ducks her head down like she's riding a sport-bike and watches the surroundings fly by. Whenever I stop, she gives the death glare...

SOOO we get to the lesson, and she impresses my student and his family, and then takes a comfy spot inside my saxophone case to listen to the music. She has quite the ear, as while my student played correctly, she listened intently, but whenever he made a mistake or the melody didn't sound quite right, she would cock her head as if she were imitating ME when I hear something out of place.

So I turned on My Dying Bride last night and Kaida definitely approved. The slow tempo was exactly what we both needed. She looked from the speaker towards me twice and proceeded to crawl up my chest to my shoulder. She nuzzled up against me and just relaxed for awhile. After a bit I took her to her tank and let her go to bed. She looked very content as she laid down for the night.

My 12 yr old is a guitar fiend. He is pretty good and runs around the house playing mostly metal like Metalic and Shadows Fall. Scorch seems to like it. If he is sitting on the bed or couch and Julien comes into the room playing he will run over to get closer and listen.

Last night I threw on some Dir en Grey and Kaida was very curious about it. She looked at the speaker all crooked and then 'smiled' and laid down. Guess she was happy with the new music I had chosen.

Cori likes fast music. Ska and Punk and Pop-Punk mostly. Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, Coheed and Cambria, All Time Low, The Offspring.. Ect.

Wow, I thought we were the only ones that had music lovin beardies.
We have 2 beardies and their tanks have been set up next to the decks since they were bought home as babies, needless to say, since at early age they have listened to all sorts of music, being dance (most genres), hiphop, metal, alternative etc and everytime we turn on the music, they both come running up to the front window and dance and fool around, scratchin to get attention. Then, after a practice and the music is turned off, they stare me down as I walk out of the lounge room *sigh* what to do hehe
