So first off, a little introduction! My name is Derek, my girlfriend is Bianca and we have two beautiful beardies!
I just wanna say how grateful I am that this website exists as it has a tonne of useful information and great people. I found this website about a month ago just after I purchased our first beardie and without it I would defintely be lost haha. After doing hours of research we finally managed to get our beardies homes set up properly and temps all correct and food all correct and again, I want to thankl everyboy who has given us great information!
Its amazing how this website brings people together who share a passion and love for these beautiful creatures. I was suffering from a bout of depression when we first got our beardies and since we have gotten them it has given me a whole new light on life again, I even got off my anti-depressant meds which has been awesome. these awesome little creatures bring joy and happiness to me and my girlfriend, and obviously all who post on this website
When we decided to finally purchase a bearded dragon as a pet, we decided we did not want to go through a pet-store and we would rather adopt a dragon who was in need of a home. We found our first beardie online at a reptile rescue shelter, she was in good health but needed to be fed a bit more often and to be loved and cared for. We got her in a 65g aquarium with sand as a substrate, one measily rock and a half destroyed plant. that didnt last long and we ended up building her a new cage, 4ftx2ftx18inches tall. See my Do-it-yourself(shame free post advertising lol viewtopic.php?f=75&t=171697)
So first off we have Izzy, shes our three year old female. We named her Izzy(now short for izabella) as we werent sure if she was a boy or a girl hence Izzy(Is he or isnt he?). Shes adorable, happy and energetic. She loves her baths and loves basking and exploring our little appartment.
After two weeks of having her, we had our 65g tank sitting around and we thought what better way to fill up the space than to fill it up with more love and another beardie. Again we prefered not to purchase a petstore beardie and adopt a beardie in need. So online we went again and we found an ad for an 8month old beardie. We went to look at him and he was conisiderably small for an 8 month old beardie. As well the guy who we baught him from told us that when he got him he had a broken arm and it was never fixed properly by the vet, so hes only got three working legs, but hes still a very able little beardie and moves around very quickly. He has adapted to his lack of a leg and is doing quite well. We named him dexter.
So here is Izzy:
Sleeping:
bath time!!
Going to the pet-store:
And now dexter:
Broken leg/shoulder, healed just not right:
And last but not least izzy and dexter sleeping, izzy fell asleep on my girlfriend and dex was sleeping next to her, woke up and crawled up ontop of her:
