My last heat bulb went out while i was out on christmas eve

So i went out on christmas eve to visit my dad, my heat light was fine before i left but recently i put in the last spare one i had (literally had multiple last only 1-2 weeks at the most) and before i could go out to get more i came back and his light was out again when i came back home. Now it's christmas day and nothing is open. His ambient temp is about 73F, will he be fine going the day without a heat lamp as long as i don't feed him? I can get out early boxing day b4 he wakes up and get him a new light no problem.

Hello,

Poor thing, but yes, he will be alright without heating for a short period. Do you have a
ceramic heat emitter you could use for heating or a heating pad for overnight use, if needed?
If you use a heating pad, be sure to place it on low, with a towel in between him & the heating
pad.
What type of basking bulb are you using or were you using? Is it exceeding the allowed
wattage on the light fixture?

I have neither of those things unfortunately, most i have is a beanbag i could heat up and put a blanket over it for him (although that would not last more than maybe an hr or so and i would likely have to wait for a bit as that thing is often too hot for me to use initially). I have been using 100w reptisun basking bulb that my initial purchases of them lasted 3-4 months then suddenly the started lasting only 1 month, then only 1-3 weeks (shortest duration was literally 3 days).

You can try a Household bulb --- a regular one not a LED they put out no heat I think the regular ones are called Incandescent bulbs -- try a 100 watt and make sure you get a basking temp w/ it --- use your digital probe or infrared heat gun to get a accurate temp----

Yup, just pull a lightbulb from one of your home fixtures be it a ceiling light or a floor lamp. Hopefully you haven't gone completely eco friendly and still have some incandescent or halogen bulbs around

I think my room has the last 2 lights in the house that aren't LED, at your suggestion i've taken one out and put it in.

You can buy 4 packs of halogen or other bulbs at Walmart/Home Depot for about $6. They come in varying strengths so I get ones from 43 watt to about 100 watt. You never need to get pet store bulbs for heat.

Bulbs burning out that fast is also an indicator that you need to do a test on your outlets and see if you are running high on voltage. Mine was doing that and, I checked it and, it was putting out 128 volts (normal is 110 to 115 volts), this will mean that your transformer is going bad and you need to report it to the utility provider.

I learned the hard way it cost me a fridge, 2-TV's, dryer and, countless bulbs in a 6 month span.

Could also be your fixture. Especially of the bulb is near the fixtures max rating.
