Okay, so I got Bones back in October. He's in a 20 gal long with just a basking light. I had him in a 40 gal but I rescued Blaze (my 1 yr old bd) and switched out there tanks til I could get another 40 gal. Well I got the 40 gal ( still in my car cuz of the snow we've gotten) from petco for $40( $1per gallon sale (ends Jan. 21st so you all know:)) well I've been trying to work with handling. Im at work slot and my husband isn't in to my scaley babies so I'm on my own there. I tried the bath tub thing where I hold him in there but he still hates me. He won't stay burritoed if I do that. He just wants to run and hide from everyone. He used to be in the living room but got moved to the bedroom when we got blaze cuz they were stressing each other out. Blaze was headbobin and bones was waving non stop. I don't want Bones to hate but he's so small and fast I'm afraid I'm gonna lose him if he runs. I'm trying my best for this guys and I only want the best for them. HELP ME! please!

Taming a juvie takes patience. Keep doing what you're doing. Also try hand feeding him so he will associate you to good things.

give him a nice warm bath it usually relaxes the crap out of them when they're that warm, THEN after wrap him up in something and try to give him a cuddle. Patience is hard sometimes I know but stick with it, these things can take some time :D

I started to handle my little one first one at lights on in the morning, kind of while still sleeping, that way he was very calm... and as he woke I could just reasurre him... just sit somewhere quiet, you can wrap him if you want... I don't, I just have my hand over him holding him to my chest... and depending on the day, I'll just throw a blanket over both of us for cuddles... it took a bit to get him to calm down... but It is very gratifying when they go from being annoyed with us to cuddling with us. keep with it, just don't let him think he can get "pissy" and get away with it... If they get that way I alway make sure I pick him up hold him for a minute when he hisses at me and he calms right down... soon as he's stopped, i will continue to hold for a minute or so and then put him back when he's calm... don't know if it works or not... just seems to me that for us it has.

I took bed an all with Allie still asleep. I let her sit on me to warm up and cuddle. Then she woke up fully, took a poop on her bed which I had to wash in hot water, bleach, and soap. Now I don't take her out in the mornings, but she'll use the bathroom in her tank and then I'll take her out. She loves her morning exercise and attention. :)

This is only my second night with my beardie but I can also say he isn't thrilled with me at the moment. I Take him out a few times a day and try to get him use to different experiences. I sometimes take him to my moms room so she can say "Hi". I also can say when I worked with the beardies at work a warm bath did always relax them.
You can use "positive reinforcement" training with them too. If the act in a way we like they get a treat if they don't they get their treat taken in till they show the right behavior.. ( dog training).
When they acted all big and tough at work I would hold them more so they understood that bad behavior didn't mean you get to be put down b/c thats what they wanted.
Just know your not the only one out there trying to get your beardie to bond with you.

Does this mean you don't have a UVB light for him? I believe without proper UVB beardies can be grumpy and have poor appetite among a lot of other health issues. Hopefully a more seasoned dragon owner will chime in.

He's been moved into his 40 gal breeder for 2 weeks now. He's got a reptisun 10.0 tube mounted in the tank. He's getting better with the handling.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
