My beardie seems to only want to eat Morio worms. It's annoying. I've tried him on calciworms (he'll eat one or two and ignore the rest, so they just die off), locusts (not interested) and dubias (will eat the odd one when he feels like it.) It's worse than having a kid!
I spent lots of £ buying Dubias in the hope that he'd get an appetite for them and they have been breeding but he's just not interested I want him to eat them but he just closes his eyes. He's been brumating a bit and not eating as much (he doesn't have a huge appetite anyway and barely touches veg especially in the winter) but it's so frustrating when I put a dubia in front of him and he ignores it. He hasn't eaten for a week now and ignored the dubia I offered last night. I decided to see if my suspicions were correct and picked up a morio instead and bam! down the gullet it went. Grrr. He even got a bit interested last night when I waved the tongs in front of him (I pick up the morios with tongs) but when he saw it was a dubia he ignored it. I just fed him the one morio but now I'm annoyed at him and myself for giving in.
I know he can go without food for a while but I don't want to starve him and worry he's not getting proper nutrition. He seems ok in himself and is otherwise healthy. It just annoys me that he won't touch anything unless it's a morio. Once in a while I feed him baby food with a syringe so that he's getting something else but it's annoying he won't eat properly.
Has anyone else had a really fussy beardie like mine and managed to successfully get him to eat other things? How did you go about changing your beardie's eating habits?
Thanks for any advice
