I finally got my bearded dragon and ..boy is he tiny.. :blob8:
Here are some pictures and I need help with names. IN the past I named my rats after greek Gods and such like Thor, Odin, Troy, Zeus Apollo.. not 100% sure on what he/she is just yet but I am just happy he/she is here. I wasn't going to offer crickets today because I know they normally don't eat right away but he was walking along on the bottom sticking his tough at different things so i threw a few crickets. He chased them all over the place at ate all of them.

I am keeping a very close eye on him and might remodel but he seems to be doing really well. I am feeling him/her in a smaller cage till he gets little bigger. Mist him and have a small water bowl too. He found a nice spot and is now sleeping..blends right into the wood.
Now just need to get a name..

If you're looking for names, you can use some of the ones on my post "Names, and more names" I think its called. Everyone's been coming up with great names, and they have good advice too.

ARES is his name ( hope its a boy)

"ARES was the great Olympian god of war, battlelust, civil order and manly courage. In Greek art he was depicted as a mature, bearded warrior dressed in battle arms:

A lot of my rats have names like Apollo, Thor, Odin, Troy, Zeus so its only fitting that my bearded dragon goes with the theme

He looks very happy in his big home. I honestly don't think the viv is too big for him at all, as long as he can get within 6-8" of his UV and he can get to a basking spot at the right temp. Beardies can go through relocation stress if you move them around, so if you can meet his lighting and heat needs in this tank, just leave him there. Better than moving him and then moving him again, you know?

Everyone getting new babies makes me want another one!!

Thats awesome, I like the name. I'm into Norse and Greek Mythology so I understand where you're coming from. I'm glad you got a name picked out! I was going to choose a mythology name for mine, but at first he didn't really fit anything but now he's starting to look like a Loki with all his mischief.

I took a class in college about fairytales and mythology for fun.
Apollo was one of my first rats and I have used a ton of names.. my friends were naming off names but including LOKI a lot of the cool ones were already used. Ares was good..just hope its a boy..

Dont worry about the gender if they feel like an ares then it will be. My last one was a girl I think and its name was Steve McQueen. I wish I could take a class of mythology that'd be way cool. I still may find a name for the little lizard from mythology, but for now he'll be Audie Murphy. At least till I find a decent name.

Your beardie names make me laugh! I had 2 dogs with names kinda like yours: Johnna Wayne and Gabbie Hayes.

I'm so new I still don't have my bearded dragon yet but I wanted to say that your new little one is adorable! I also wanted to comment because I love the names you chose for your rats. All of my pet rats went along with a god/goddess naming theme but we did Norse mythology rather than Greek. Enjoy your new baby!

I can't tell from the photos, what substrate are you using? (can't tell if it's sand or repti-carpet?) If it's sand then I really would advise changing it for a non-loose substrate, all Beardies can become impacted on sand, and it'll either be a costly vet visit for surgery, or no more beardie. :( I'm sorry to be the bearer of "bad news" it's just that using sand is a risk not worth taking at all.  If it ISN'T sand, then ignore this bit.

Also, that setup might be way too big for him at the size he's at now, a lot of that stuff looks REALLY high up for a baby too. (babies are REALLY fragile, a fall from that height could do some severe damage, if not kill him.) :(

Can you not partition a bit off for him to live in til he's bigger?

What is your lighting set up? Are your lights on top of a screen?

Those stick on thermometers can be as much as 20° out, so I really wouldn't rely on them for accurate temp readings. Can you get a couple of digital probe ones? They're available on eBay for a couple of pounds in the uk. (mine were called "digital fridge thermometer")

It's a gorgeous setup, for an adult beardie, so keep whatever you take out to make it baby-safe. :)

Best wishes

- Its carpet ( read 3.5 books before I got one and worked with them for 6 years)
- I have a ditital thermometer
- Have a light holder so it doesn't sit on the screen anymore and its a different lamp holder too
- Right now he is in a 20 long and I have made some changes but he is getting around great

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
