Well, this was suggested to me by a fellow member of the forum to do a journal on my soon to be dubia colony. i think it's a pretty cool idea, this way people who are thinking of starting one can see how it goes and really get to experience it without actually experiencing it!
To start it off, i'm going to introduce myself to everyone! my name is john, i am a 14 year old boy living in the USA. I have a 10 month old (soon to be 11 month old) beardie named Phoenix. I'm pretty sure he is a male, although i cant really be so sure! He was born around May 6 of 2009 and i have had him for about 8 months (i'm pretty sure i got him around 2 months old)
Phoenix is living in a 65 gallon grantie acrylic tank from http://www.glasscages.com Here it is:
now that we got that outta the way
So, i guess i'll start the journal!
March 16th
Today, i researched alot! found out what to do, how to do, and when to do. I think i've decided to buy some of those rubbermaid containers instead of using my 10 and 20 gal. tanks. As far as size, i'm not sure yet. anyone have any ideas? i only have one dragon to feed, so i was talking to someone very reliable on here who is selling dubias and really affordable starter kits (cant really remember the name right now, but if you'd like to know just ask, i'll look for it!) so it'll be pretty much all i need for around 40 dollars plus 5 dollars for shipping, a great deal!
The biggest challenge in this is going to be to convince my dad to let me do this. :/ He may have a problem with me breeding and caring for roaches in our house (cant see why! ) but i'm sure i can convince him. After all, they'd be in my room, i've dealt with crickets before and had no escapes. he also may have a problem with me using a heating pad 24/7 to keep the enclosure warm (kinda a fire freak). but other then that, i think i got a good shot. plus, i was thinking of putting the enclosure in our attic but the temp. is only at 75. i guess thats a no. looks like i'll have to do some convincing and sucking up! Wish me luck!!!
UNFORTUNATELY MY DAD SAID NO, SORRY! I WAS REALLY HOPING I COULD DO THIS AS IT WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER!
