MY DRAGONS HINTS AND TIP NEEDED !!

hello there my name is paul daniels.

i accuired two fully grown bearded dragon about 8 months ago now and there doing fine just wondering on some hints and tips on how to look after them better...

they are well looked after they get fed ruffly about twice a week and they get loads of large locust to eat they have a fresh supply of fruit and veg which they love to eat everyday and they water gets chaged regularly..

just wondering on other things they can be fed and things i can do to make them more happier in there tank like things they can rest on or sit on top of there in a 4ft tank at the moment do you think i shopuld get a bigger one..

is there any other change in there diet i can give them besides locust or fruit and veg that they can eat i am a bit unwarly of what them man in the pet shops says because he looks a bit dodgy i didnt get my dragons from him i gotthem from a private owner.

There is alot of great articles on this sight that would be very beneficial for you too read. They cover the lighting (UVB),heat, feeding, etc.. You can soak the dragons in your bath tub with warm water. I let mine soak a couple times a week for about 20 mins, it keeps him hydrated since alot of beardies don't drink out of a water bowl. Check those articles out though im sure they will help you and answer any questions you might have, if not everyone here will be happy to help you with any specific question, you can also do a search of previous topics discussed and probably find your answer without having to ask. Hope all goes well with your dragon friends.

Anyways, as long as your using correct UV light and correct temps then they will be fine.

Are they currently in the same viv? and what lighting and heating are you using?

o yess as in the magicain ...

ermm i am usein a 60wheater bulb and a relector and a 0.5 uv light a think thats what it was but i cant remeber atm

30 oC at the most and 22 oC over night

If they are not already in seperate vivs...nows the time to seperate them.

30oC seems really low.

There temps should be around 100f (37oC) on the basking spot and around 85f (30oC) on the cool side.

Night temps shouldn't drop below 65f (18oC)


And as already said, they should be in separate vivs. That is if they aren't already

Yet......Beardies are solitary n live alone not in colonies.....go to the ER section of this forum n you will see why you should seperate them now!One will dominate the other n one could end up dead or seriously injured missing limbs ect...
I know u think they are fine....but usually it does not prove to be so.FAIR WARNING!
In the Health Topic section right now see the topic slightly swollen......beardies housed together one attacked the other arm is swollen .....this is minor...i have seen post where a beardie will actually take anothers head off n eat the other one. :shock:

point taken but they were baught together and have lived together 4 abr 2 yrs now and havnt even slightyly went 4 each other so when they do then ill shake ya hand for tellin me..

Are they both females? 2 females can sometimes live together with little or no problem. Its still not recomended if you can keep from it. Just never 2 males or male and female(over breeding will stress her out)
