For the past 4 days my dragon has not been eating. I dont know why. I got him 8 days ago and he was eating fine until the 4th day i had him. He is pooping pure water, and he just wont eat. What should i do? take him to the vet or wait? I want to take him to the vet but i want to know what you guys think.

ok, well i can't tell you much, sorry. Im not an expert, But i would suggest bathing him in warm water. Also rub his belly area and see if that helps. Is it warm enough in there for him? That could be a problem. Good luck, I hope he feels better. :)

How old is your beardie?

Are you using either a temperature gun or digital probe thermometer to check the temps? What are the temps?

What brand & type of UVB are you using and how long have you had it as well as the distance of it?

Are you using a bright white basking bulb?

If he is less than a yr old, would be a good idea to feed him some chicken or turkey baby food mixed with a small amount of squash or sweet potato baby food. Use a plastic medicine dropper or syringe and put drops on his nose for him to lick off. You can also add a small pinch of calcium to the mixture.

The basking bulb is a 10.0 UVB reptisun tube bulb it's 18"

The only 2 ways to get accurate readings are with either a temperature gun or digital thermometer with a long wire & probe end so I suspect the readings you're getting now aren't accurate. Are you able to get either a gun or probe thermometer?

What size tank are you using the 100 watt basking bulb in and is it a bright white uncoated bulb?

Do you have the UVB mounted inside of the tank? And, is it right alongside the basking bulb so he can get the benefit of both bulbs at the same time?

Could you post a picture of your setup?

I can't get a thermometer for maybe a while.
The size of the tank is a 20 gallon
The bulb is white but gives off a yellow light
The UVB is above the tank in a hood kind of fixture,

And both bulbs are on at the same time

I think a big part of the non-eating are the temps. Would you be able to get a cheap probe thermometer if I share some links with you?

The brighter the basking bulb, the better they like it. Do you know what brand the 100 watt basking bulb is?

There isn't any plastic over the UVB light, is there? Is there any way that you can mount the UVB inside the tank?

Can you post a picture of the tank for us?

I'll see if I can get some pics up. And so I should get a higher bulb? The bulb is a 100w REPTI basking bulb no film on anything and I can't mount the bulb inside the tank.

You actually shouldn't get a higher wattage bulb unless you know what the true temps are. Would you be able to afford a thermometer like this? http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Digital-Terrarium-Thermometer/dp/B000MD3MFA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406598649&sr=8-1&keywords=zoo+med+probe+thermometer

Pictures would be helpful.

Ya I am hopefully going to go to the pet store tomorrow. And get the thermometers. I'm also hoping to take him to the vet. Do u know if pet co does check ups for reptiles?

Thanks for the links to the pictures. Are you actually using two 100 watt basking bulbs? I see 2 bulbs in the double dome.

Good that you will be getting a probe thermometer tomorrow. Make sure to NOT get a round gauge or digital strip as those are very inaccurate too. It will need to have a long wire & probe end.

Were you thinking that you couldn't mount the UVB inside of the tank because it has a hood? The screen can block out as much as 30% of the UVB penetration. It looks like your beardie is further away than 6 to 8" from the UVB, any idea what the distance is while he's in the basking spot?

I'm only using one bulb for basking.
I can't mount the hood because it's an aquarium light fixture, the only one I could find
I have no idea how far away he is but when I get more money I'm going to get more things for it, I'm only 15 and don't have a good means for money,( until I get my job next year) so I'm kind of pacing it

I think it's great that you are 15 and care so much about your beardie, good for you. Aren't they just the sweetest creatures?

The reason I asked about the hood is because I used to use one just like that and was able to mount it inside the tank. I picked up 3 metal shelf brackets and was able to bend the bottom of them to actually hook around and support the hood, then I bent the top part toward the back of the tank, toward the wall & it held it completely secure. It worked very well and if you want to see pictures of how I did it, let me know and I can post some for you tomorrow. You could also use strong twist ties that are very long, could use about 4 of them to hold an 18" hood inside the tank. Those types of hoods are very beneficial and actually are better than the ones that just hold the tubes inside the tanks so good job picking one like that.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
