My daughter brought home a bearded dragon last night that she got from craigslist- she's done research and has been planing on getting one for a while - I have chameleons so she thinks I'm some kind of expert- (Ha) Anyway - he came with his complete set up and we are both finding it lacking - I have the most of the things he's lacking but the only UVB light I have is a 5.0 -that I bought in May but switched out when I move my chameleon into a bigger cage- I just ordered the proper desert light from lightmyreptiles but it might take a week to get here-
He came without a UBV light so I'm assuming he didn't have one - He is supposed to be 2 months old and was in the guys care for a month- he looks healthy to me and he ate like a pig when she fed him (after cleaning the cage and removing the sand)
We were going to go get him a 10.0 UVB light today - but this morning I saw that at least one person who breeds uses 5.0 on their babies - Is it ok to use the 5.0 till the other one gets here I don' t want to recommend the wrong action - she was going to run out last night to get him one until I told her that he would be alright till the AM since the lights would be off anyway-
Also, he had no calcium at all with the supplies -(I have both 3d and no 3d for my chameleons) and no vitamins. She gave him dusted (no 3d) gut-loaded extra small crickets last night - but I didn't want to give him to many to late - His previous owner said he stays up till around nine and I wanted to give him at least an hour it was 7 by the time he settled in - He will be getting salad for breakfast and a lunch of crickets and phoenix worms - should I do anything with his supliments as I think he may have been lacking them or start him whats recomended for a healthy dragon of his age.
