And im fed my roaches an apple slice.
<<< all the apple is giving the roaches is a source of water .... no nutrition in apple , and it forments very fast in warm weather , making the bugs who eat it drunk and potentially toxic to the lizard who is fed them, I made this mistake until I told it was not wise by my vet, was also told similar for potato slices (potato slices is another common source of hydration for the bugs).
better off using fresh carrot chunks each day to provide water to the bugs and supplying them with high calcium leafy greens (buk or puk choi are very good) .
Feed the feeder insects rubbish and the result is rubbish feeder insects of poor nutritional value to the lizard who has to eat them.
Thats what the breeder has been feeding them, but what is recomended to feed the roaches? And can i feed my beardie veggies,or is he too young?
Any greens or veg listed as good staples here ; http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutritionframeset.html
are good foods for the bugs to gut load them, and the left over greens and veg that beardie doesn't eat are fine for the bugs if they are as listed above.
I find my crickets LOVE REPCAL ADULT BEARDIE PELLETS (given straight from the bottle , as dry pellets - they fight over some pellets .... and try to steal them of each other .... LOL ...) The are better bug food than beardie food I find.
He's fine to have some greens and veg in his diet (ONLY A SMALL PART OF HIS DIET at his age).
