My beardie has an eye infection?

I recently got a bearded dragon, the people who lived in my house before me didn't want him anymore. He seems to have an eye infection...looks like a small scab on the bottom part of his right eye. Seemed annoyed when I touched it...I thought he might just have something stuck in his eye. His eyes aren't weeping or red, though. What should I do?
I just found out that I need to change the bedding in his tank (its sand), and already corrected some other problems the old owners left me with. I'm a bearded dragon newbie so I'll appreciate any advice.

Hi Hannah....can you post any pics ? To do so on here, upload pics to a site like Photobucket, then copy/paste the img here. What you can do is get some raw honey [unpasteurized ] and put a bit on his eye. It's a natural antimicrobial and is safe to use in the eye. Just dilute it with a bit of warm water and apply 2-3X daily. Just be sure there are no loose crickets in the tank if you use the honey, they would be attracted to it. Anyway, I hope your dragon stays healthy and that you enjoy him.

Drache613 helped me with a similar problem. Her website www.bug-de-lite.com sells terramycen it healed my dragons eye up from an infection in about 2 weeks. Worked really well. It's worth a try if the eye looks infected.
