This is my beardie Babies skin right now. She has a vet appointment set up but I want to know what I can do to help her. She's taking betadine baths daily, she's super alert and her appetite has never gone away. And I've been following other things that have been posted here on what to do. Any advice would be awesome!!!

Hi CC....I'm sorry to say that it's yellow fungus disease. It's very contagious and hard to treat, often fatal. You can get some betadine from a drug store, dilute it with water to the color of iced tea. and soak him for 5-10 minutes [ warm water ] A vet can do a skin scraping to determine exactly, but that looks 100% like Y.F. There is an oral medication that is used , voriconazole. pretty much the only thing available.

Take him to ONLY a reptile experienced vet. If a vet gives you antibiotics instead of the voriconazole, the vet is not experienced with Y.F because antibiotics do not work on Y.F. If you do a Google search you can read up on Y.F.

Best wishes for your very sick beardie.

Thank you for the information! My next question is will I lose her, I'm prepared for the Vet bill like any normal person who acquires an animal. But I keep having people tell me that this is gonna kill her soon and I need to put her down. Is it worth the treatment or will it only put it in remission. The vet she goes to has 20 years experience with reptiles. So she's only the best worthy of my precious scale baby.

I guess every dragon is different and that although Y.F. has a high mortality rate you can still see what your vet is willing to do and maybe your girl can be one that survives or at least lives many months/perhaps longer without much discomfort.

It sounds like your vet is qualified and it sounds like you're a good, caring owner that can make good decisions according to the progression of the disease. :)

My beardie has yellow fungus and is currently being treated. The medicine is really hard on them. He got really really sick about a week into treatment. He was so weak and lifeless that even the vet had to look hard to see if he was still alive. I considered putting him down because I felt as though he was suffering but I just couldn't. Shockingly, he pulled through!! He's back to his old self and is growing! After seeing what a fighter he is, I have decided to let him decide when it is time for him to go. Everything I have read says it is terminal and they usually only live a year or a year and a half with it. I've decided to make it the best year and a half that I can for him! That's my long way of saying, even though I know what he has is terminal, as long as he is healthy and willing to fight, I am going to do all I can to help him. His isn't too advanced and it looks much better after being on medicine for a while.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
