Since we put her in a new 55 gallon tank, my bearded dragon has been shedding/growing a TON, has begun eating veggies and dry food (finally!) and is almost to the point where we might call her adult (she'll be a year in a bit over a month)... she's well over a foot long but still got that skinny look of a baby beardie.... getting to the point here!!
I had never seen her really use her beard before but I knew what to expect from pictures and videos... when she gets mad about something she usually just black bottoms but tonight (a few minutes ago) my boyfriend was going to feed her some crickets... he opened the tank like and she got excited because she saw the food container and started jumping around and getting up on her hammock like always and then two fell out of the container and she ate them but then he was waiting for some more to fall and was just holding the container trying to shake them out and she jumped off of her hammock and puffed her beard out a LOT (which was cool because it was the first time she did it-- not scary) but then she got REALLY REALLY skinny like she was sucking her belly in and standing up really high on her feet as if she had very long legs... she was like pushing her body in the air it looked sooo scary.
Is something wrong with her? She's back to normal now, as soon as the crickets fell she calmed down and now she's back to normal just basking and enjoying some veggie salad. But I'm still worried about her. I knew to expect the beard eventually but I was NOT ready for her getting all skinny and high up like that.
