MVB Temp

I've had my powersun MVB on for an hour now and temp is only reading 98 degrees. The bulb is 160 watts and 12 inches from the basking surface. I thought it was going to be a lot hotter than that. Does it just take a while the first time it's used?

How exactly are you taking the temp? Those stick on thermometers are crap. To get accurate readings you need a digital thermometer with a probe or a temp gun.

I'm using an acurite probe thermometer.

Yah thats really strange... a 160w MVB should be getting hotter than that at that distance your right.

It might just be a dud...maybe you could exchange it?

After another hour, and moving the probe around it said 105. Does that sound right?
