Well at least your doing it in the summer... This is what I did for a trip from NJ to TX and back. I admit it might be a bit overboard, but I was going on vacation so some of it was for temporary housing where I was staying.

1) A nice sized Rubbermaid container which allows him to turn around for the car, and another one for him to "live" in during the stay.

2) Power Inverter with a enough wattage to handle your lights while in the car.

3) Clamp lamps!

4) Temp Probes and constantly checking them every break.

5) His regular hide/basking rock as long as it is heavy enough not slide around whenever I stop.

6) His regular food bowls, and food.

7) The addresses of all the local petco's & petsmarts along the way, as well as a couple of vets.

8) Reptile Leash so he can move around the dashboard without me worrying about him being able to wander too far like under the seats or other places. I DO NOT let him wander on the floor boards where who knows what has been tracked in on our shoes.

9) BOTTLED WATER from home or whatever the water source he is bathed in. Since I use a water filter on my home water tap, I bring bottled water from that which should be enough to last the entire trip.

I always keep in mind the temp and environment of a car changes QUICKLY, either cools down or heats up very quickly. so when in the car, the only time the car is off is when fueling. I'm also mindful of the volume of the sounds (ie music) in the car keeping in mind he has tiny little ear drums in a box which can amplify the sounds.

10) A towel in the bottom of the container to absorb shock.

I took Beardie from NJ to TX by plane, so he had to cope with the bare minimum. The whole trip for him was about 16 hours. I had a small pet carrier with a hand towel on the bottom for traction, and that was all I could pack for him. There are specialized pet moving services, but you'd have to check the cost. Beardie was delivered to and from the airports by a professional pet mover.

The stress can be harder on the dragons than the actual trip! Get some goodies when you get where you're going to tempt them, but mine didn't eat for 2 weeks. The herp vet I took him to said to let him bask in the Sun for a while, so I suppose that helped.

Be sure not to feed your dragons the day before the move, but give them plenty to drink! It can be hard (and stressful), but if my dragon could make it through three airports, I think that yours can do all right on a car ride with you right by them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
