Mouth Breathing

My vet seems pretty knowledgable about husbandry, but since I haven't had any real health problems yet with mine I have no idea how he is about diagnosing/treating. Did he recommend an Xray after listening to his lungs because he heard fluid? My vet listened to his lungs and said he sounded fine and that there was really no point in having an X-ray done. I'm second guessing now and not really sure if I should believe what the vet said.

He wanted to do the x-ray after listening to her breathe. He thought he could hear fluid and wanted to make sure.

Alright. My vet listened to his lungs for a good minute and heard nothing, so I think I can probably trust it. I agree with mikem84 though. It's hard to put your faith in a vet who only sees reptiles occasionally and doesn't really specialize in them. It's so hard to find a decent reptile vet.

I totally agree. The vet seemed like a very nice guy, just not as knowledgeable about beardies as I would have liked. I do trust his diagnosis of the URI, only because of the x-ray though. But I think I'm gonna make her a follow up appt. with the other vet my friend told me about. Hopefully he will make me feel more comfortable in his knowledge of Bearded Dragons.

That's probably a good idea. The vet I use seems like the only recommend herp vet within an hour of me. Before I got him really searched for a decent vet and called around to all the vets in my area, and this one seems like the best.
