Mounting lights

I just moved Taco into its new home today. The screen top is a slide to open and close.
I have a t5 24" fixture that was on top of the screen on the other tank. I hate moving it every time I need access to the tank and need to mount it inside of the new tank.

Can I mount the fixture inside the tank flat on the back glass or does it need to be shining straight down....?

From my experience, you should have it shining straight down. I've found that this is fairly easy to do with zip ties.

I can't mount it to the screen because it is s slide top. It has to be mounted below the screen.
I guess I need to make a bracket.
Thank you very much

Great job, solved your problem on your own and it looks very impressive. :) You might post this in the DIY forum + give a few details so others can get do something similar if they're in the same situation.

Hello,

I agree, that is terrific! :D
Shining straight down is exactly how it needs to be, right beside the basking light. The
distance looks very good as well.
I did move your thread to Enclosures. Feel free to do another one in the DIY forum if you
would like. People are always looking for ideas & inspiration for tanks.

Definitely looks great!! I'm curious how you're getting it to stay on the back like that. How do you make it stay?

I've got a tank very similar to yours that I've always had difficulties getting the lights to stay mounted in the tanks. I've given up on it temporarily and made it a tank for the feeders.

Use Scotch Tape Brand "Velcro". The 10lb strips.
The Velcro Brand 15lb does not hold as well as the Scotch brand.. I wanted to be able to remove it but if I end up having issues with it staying put then I will make it permanent with a adhesive.

Use the Loctite gel super glue to attach the strips to the wood just for extra security.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
