ok, so yesterday i observed my Beardie eat some sand with a cricket he was chasing and i absolutely panicked, i shouldn't have waited so long to remove that stupid sand... he seems ok but before this happens again, i went out and bought these Slate Mosaic Tiles... i plan to cut them and place them in the tank, since it's a hair over 10x20 inches, are these a good choice?... and is cutting the mesh and leaving it on the bottom of the tiles ok?... i tried to remove the mesh on the bottom but it is almost impossible... let me know guys... thanx a million!

tile is a great choice ... :) :) :) glad you are switching!!!
i cant tell if those tile are porous ... slate is wonderful if it has SOME kind of slight finish on it so that the poop/urate/liquid is easily wiped off and cant seep into those tiles.

so, sealed but with some texture .... not slick, if that makes sense? you are gonna be so happy with tile!!!!

Will you be grouting the spaces in between? If not, I wonder if his little feet and nails would get caught in there?

yeah they have some sort of finish to them... :) but they are textures it almost looks like sand that hardened with the natural wavy look...

no i will not grout... the will be pretty close together tho, no as separated as you see in this pic... i do not want to grout because i have seen a couple people on this site not recommend it due to easier cleaning.

That is true. They will be much easier to clean without the grout. I was just worried about his feet/nails getting caught in between. Glad they will be closer together. You will love the tile!

ok, well, i removed the sand... and put in the mosaic tiles but i do not like them one bit, they do not fill the tank correctly, there are too many gaps... tomorrow i will be cutting some super large tiles to fit the tank nicely and not have any gaps... i will take some pics and post them... but i feel so much better now that the sand is gone... :D

do they have some texture to them? if they have a little bit of texture to them then things wont slide around. things actually will be really secure i have found, woooo! you kinda want a tile that has a litttttle bit of a sealant so that they arent porous and can be wiped down, but slate feeling enough to stay textured :) i got mine at lowes, i just picked a tile that when i ran my hand over it it wasnt slick ... they have so many possibilites at lowes its awesome!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
