morning feedings

I work in construction and we usually meet well before the sun comes up, so what I've been doing has been putting some roaches and some phoenix worms in a bowl and putting it in his tank so he can eat when he wakes up. One day we were rained out so I was able to see how he responded to the food bowl, as soon as he woke up he went right to it and ate. I know you're supposed to wait about an hour after they're awake to feed them, but I can't. Should I just keep on doing what I've been doing? He seems like nothing is wrong with him. Thanks!

You are fine. Your dragon is able to decide what time in the morning he wants to eat. As long as he has the correct basking area temperatures there should not be a problem. I would take all food out three hours prior to turning out the lights so anything he has eaten in late afternoon has time to digest. Then when he is asleep put the bowl back in without waking him so he has food in the morning since you will be at work when he wakes up.

You put worms and roaches in same bowl? I have been afraid to do this. Was worried they would eat each other. Lol. So I have 2 bowls in right now. So pitting together is okay
