More Custom Enclosure Questions

Ok, I am going to start the enclosure in about a month. I was wondering what the cheapest wood to use would be? I am planning on making the tank 60"L x 36"W x 36"D. I want the wood to be cheap, but still look nice, because I want to convince my dad that custom built enclosures DO look good, if done right.

My dad claims that building my own enclosure will look far worse than the scratched up 50 gallon aquarium he is in now. He also said that my beardie is doing just fine in the enclosure. I want to build a new enclosure because it will look nicer in my room, and my beardie will not be stressed by having the glass all the way around him.

I would suggest trying to find a used/ cheap older coffee table or entertainment unit or dresser and customize it from there. It will look great and can be found cheaper than the cost of wood or even free. Do some looking around and you might be surprised what you can find. Just my suggestion... Good luck!

I did do some looking around on Craigslist for some free coffee tables. I did find some, but not much luck. The cage is going to be fairly wide, and I don't think a coffee table would fit the size I want. I will keep looking around.

You can also check Freecycle.org in your area. We built a chicken coop mostly from there and craigslist.
