So, I usually buy about 500 small crickets a week for my beardie who is almost about 2 months old now.
I also had ordered 2000 pinhead crickets online (HUGE discount pricing!) and have been waiting for them to grow, unfortunately we are probably down to about 500, because I guess we tend to forget to check on them enough.
After our closet collapsed I neglected them for a few days in a row, since they were underneath a heap of clothes.
Pulled them out today and the food inside had all molded (green mold). I completely cleaned out the cage, the crickets seem fine, got them new food..
( Before, I had in carrots, lettuce, that weird pink beardie food that monster won't ever eat, and some greens that came in a beardie package, as well with their calcium gel and those carrot looking cricket gel, and also crushed up dried meal worms (since I realized he cannot eat them yet) Now I just have the cricket nutrient gels, lettuce and the crushed meal worms
since there are so many, I don't want to waste them if I don't have to. My question is, how long now must I wait to be sure all the mold has left their systems? - - Yes I will now check them every day, as the bin is now right in front of the beardie cage!!
They are a decent size but could probably use another week of growing
Thanks for your help
Also, any advice on how to keep pinheads alive and get them to grow as quickly as possible?
