I have a plastic bin with a few hundred small supers for my young dragon. About once a week, I put a carrot in the bin to supply the worms with moisture/prevent cannabalism. Usually, I remove the remains in 2 days, but this week I forgot and the carrot leftovers stayed in the bin about 4-5 days. There was a small amount of mold on one of the carrots and the oats/baby rice had a faint odor. I immediately removed all the worms one by one, cleaned the plastic bin, and put in fresh oats/baby; rice. I didn't find one dead worm and none that looked sick either.
So my question is, I know some mold can be deadly when ingested...... do you think these superworms could now be carrying a mold related toxin that would make my beardie ill. Replacing the worms is no problem he'd just have to go without those feeders and eat dubia for a little under a week. Any words of wisdom will be much appreciated.
Thanks!!
