Mizu is baby, for sure!

So I'm an EMT and I work 13hr overnight shifts and at the moment I do not have a day/night timer outlet for the UVB and basking lamps. This means that I need someone to unplug the lamps when it's Mizu's bed time. I created thorough instructions in a binder (obsessive need to be organised with tracking three reptiles) and my 17 year old brother has become responsible for handling Mizu's needs while I'm at work--including taking him out to socialise/hang out on my bed and clean up his tank if he's soiled the paper towels.

Imagine my surprise when my brother starts sending me photos and videos of him hanging out with Mizu on my bed. He tells me about what they do and then a photo of Mizu finding the perfect spot for bed time and flopping down.

I felt like a parent getting updates from family looking after my child while I'm at work :)

(putting these photos as links because they're so big) On the last photo: I'm trying to create hides in his 40 gal with what I have but I don't think the rock formation is effective. It's simply what I did yesterday when I set up the tank and haven't had time to create a better hide. Any suggestions or links to threads for DIY hides would be greatly appreciated!

Haha, that is awesome! I also do not have a timer, so whenever I am home late, I have to have a family member turn them off. I'm think about getting one though, since turning them on and off is a pain...

I think it's good for my brother to manually unplug them. Allows him to engage with Mizu and the tank since part of the bed-time routine is to check the tank to make sure it's clean, the water dish is fresh/no fecal matter, and that none of the decor is gone awry. He then has to put a check mark on the Official Mizu Calendar so when I get home at 5AM I can see proof that he actually went through all of the routine.

And I don't mind it either. That way I'm aware of where he is as he curls up for sleep time and I know to keep my loud noises and such to a minimum so I don't startle him.

So I'm seriously considering not having a timer?? I just know that there will be those times where my brother goes to hang out with friends and doesn't come home at a time reasonable for Mizu's bedtime. So I'm ordering one just in case.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
