Hi,
I have been spending the last few hours curiously reading posts and articles about beardie supplementation. We have a new juvenile bearded dragon who is named Brick Top (my husband named him after the bad guy from Snatch) and we have had him a week. Hes about 6 months old and we think hes male! The vet thinks too but I have seen from posts before that what you think is a he and end up being a she!
We are currently dusting his crickets (ordered some dubias, he was fed crickets from the reptile shop we got him from) with calcium power 4x a week and Nutrobul 2x. Now I know there is a bit of talk around that you shouldn't mix calcium with vitamins and minerals but I have also read that without D3 they cant digest the calcium, making dusting it pointless unless they get D3, which he gets 2 times a week. We are not using a mercury vapour bulb, just a normal 100w basking for heat and currently 10% Arcadia UVB. Basking spot it about 95f - 100f and cool side is 80f - 82f. If this is wrong please say, I don't mind being told off if it means I can improve his set up.
I saw some people say that they mix 2 parts calcium powder and 1 part Nutrobul and dust their feeders with that every day, as current day supplements are better then they were back in the day. I was wondering if any of you lovely lot could impart some of your knowledge and experience on beardie supplements.
