So I don't post much on this sight. In fact, I don't believe I've posted since I was building my cage. But I wanted to share with you the story of my missing Bearded Dragon, Polly. 3 weeks ago, Polly went missing. I had been letting her out of her cage because she seemed to have spring fever and was going nuts in her cage. Normally when I let her out, she'd run around and then find her way back to the cage. If she got too far away she'd explore a little before curling up in the corner of a room and falling asleep. That didn't happen this time.
When she went missing, I searched the entire house, including the basement. I tore every room upside down in my efforts to find her. Alas, she was no-where to be found. Every room was searched multiple times, yet she still eluded me. There was one spot though that I thought she was in, but I just couldn't see her to confirm it.
When we first got our second cat, she discovered a couple of holes along the bottom of our kitchen cabinets that led back behind the cabinets in dead space. I covered those holes up with some tape to prevent her from getting back there. But about a month ago, I pulled that tape off because that same cat was playing with the tape. She was far too big to crawl in there so I didn't worry about it. However, Polly could easily fit.
The hole next to my dishwasher had a crack running up the height of the dishwasher. I could easily see into that and knew she wasn't there. The other hole though was harder to see into. I had taken pictures with my camera phone and a flashlight, but they showed nothing. I thought that somehow I had missed her because of the angle I was trying to take the pictures at, so I renewed my search efforts today.
I decided to pull the baseboard off along with the molding. I was disappointed when I still couldn't see straight into the hole, but I did get a better angle to take a picture with. I was dismayed when the new picture showed empty space. Stumped, I looked along the base and discovered a 3rd hole. I hadn't seen this hole before and my excitement grew! The hole was much smaller then the other two, so I had to squeeze the phone and flashlight in. After about 5 minutes of trying to get both my camera phone and flashlight in, I finally took a picture.
That picture changed my entire night.
