In the last week, I had dreams of Zeppelin, named my small shop in Second Life "Dream of Dragons," and found my Mom yesterday morning cleaning out the old 70 gallon aquarium. Yesterday, we were going to go to the mall to pick up Beatles tickets for my Dad and on the way, Mom made a joke about picking up a bearded dragon. We ended up in the pet place after buying the tickets and talking to a man my age who has kept dragons for years. Most of his advice was actually correct according to this site, although he didn't catch the coil lamp thing. We chose the larger of the two babies there and it seems to be a good choice. She's a good eater, especially for crickets. I plan on feeding mostly silkworms as her insect, but they were out of them. She relaxes when being held and talked to/stress marks dissapear.
I think it will be a good idea for me to be in touch with a reptile specialist vet in the city. For my last two I didn't and really wish I would have. I love her already and want her to live a long life. And even though Zeppy lived a good lifespan, he had some health problems that would have been preventable. And with Xena I had no clue. It turns out he was actually a sub-adult/not a hatchling when I got him, but the size of a hatchling and we tried everything to get him to eat. Total disaster. This time if something goes wrong, I want outside help to be available.
I named her after a virtual child I have in a video game (I like to invent names). I posted a short post of her in general, to try and get her sex, but I didn't really tell her story there. Her name is Zalaika Zee (often called Zee as a nickname).
