mealworms

i know ur not supposed to feed em and all that jazz BUT i went to my local pet shop and asked what kind of worms they could get in.
And she said only silkies but then she said you can feed em mealworms but only as a treat. 1 a week maybe 2 cuz they are high in fat.

i was like :shock: she acutally might be right!! a pet shop that knows a little bit about beardies!!!!!!!!!

does anyone agree? i know mealies are bad, but she said "if you cant wait till sept when silkies are in season you CAN give mealies but best not to."

and thier reptiles are all on repticarpet and always have a good mix of greens and lights are all good

my only gripe is with the fact that the babies BDs are housed in the same enclosure.

i had to say somthing just to let you guys know that there are some good pet shops around you just gotta look hard

i forgot to say i once went to a pet shop. not happy. dead fish in tanks. kitten pen left WIDE OPEN i could have walked out with one and male rabbits were fighting and guess how the pet shop owner handled that?? squirted them with a spray bottle i reported him and now they have new owners and happy health animals!!

Venom, I would not feed mealies for many reasons :
Hard carapace makes digestion harder.
Little protein
Lots of fat.

I would actually ( if I didn't have the roaches) most likely either go with the silks ( an excellent staple btw) or crix, though I would raise both myself.

no i agree im not gunna feed mealies

but i was just surprised that she kinda new what she was on about and advising me against them.
