Mealworm selection

I got a 4-5" beardie recently at petco and she told me to feed him mealworms . Once I realized how wrong this was I ordered some waxworms but they won't be here for a few days. Any way to pick some mealworms out of the bunch that will be better for him for the time being?

Hi Biggins....mealies can easily cause impaction, but if you just feed the freshly shed ones [ they're almost creamy white ] they should be O.K. if they are small. Check around your pet stores for small crickets , but they must be no longer than the space between the beardies eyes. It's very important for a 4-5 inch dragon to eat very tiny prey items. You can order Phoenix worms on line, or check if any pet stores carry them, they are a better choice than waxworms. I hope you can get everything you need and that your baby does well !
