Just got Haven in today. Shes beautiful... but it was so cute, she hadnt eaten all day.
and for some reason Hally, my other female hasnt been eating her crickets lately very much.
but i put a big bowl of greens in front of the two, and they immediatly just started chomping down on the greens.
but then there will be like a gazillion crickets running around them and they wont even look at them.
but my male(thats in a seperate cage) cant stop eating crickets. and will barely eat his greens.
ive tried Pheonix worms with both Hally and Hanson. and they both love them. but im all out right now, and so i havent tried them with Haven just yet.
are pheonix worms a good substitue for crickets?
or silkworms?
ive always just been a cricket person. and once in awhile some worms...

and i will NEVER EVER have roaches in my house. i'd die before i did that.

From all I've read, phoenix worms are a great feeder and very healthy for reptiles. I agree with you on the roach thing. I don't want to touch them and my husband refuses because of a house he used to own that was overrun by cockroaches that he couldn't get rid of. They will probably eat the crickets when they get hungry enough. Zoom zoom was not wanting many crickets she's still a baby so she needs more. We realized we were feeding her phoenix worms in the am and when we didn't give her anything but crickets, she ate more of them in the afternoon.

Also, butterworms are a good feeder.

No roaches for me...sorry  My hubby and I hate bugs...period! My hubby has a roach phobia! I hated using the crickets. They stink and when I brought my 1st beardie home, I started to get knats or fruit flies in the house :angry5: BOTH THE PHOENIX WORMS AND SILKIES ARE CONSIDERED VERY GOOD STAPLES IN A BEARDIE'S DIET. They are the only two types of worms that can be eaten daily. I feed them PW's, for now, but would like to add silkies to their diet. There is a lot more maintenance with the silkies, practically no maintenance with the phoenix worms.

The only problem I've found with phoenix worms is that my girls don't seem to want them anymore. I'm thinking it's because the worms are to small. Both of them have eaten small super worms, even tho they are too small. Speedy chews them up very well and zoom zoom chewed the two she ate one bit at a time.

well do they go through PW's like they do crickets?
my 2 females are juvis and my male is juvi/sub adult. but he probably eats as many as my two females put together.

pheonix worms are more expensive and i dont want to have to be spending 40 dollars every 2 weeks on 1000 of them.
when i only spend 20 dollars in crickets for 1000

That's another reason I don't feed phoenix worms exclusively. They, and butterworms are very expensive. I just priced butterworms and for 1,000 they are around $115. At phoenixworms.com you can get 600 for about $26. You will go through more phoenix worms then you do the crickets as even the large ones are very small.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
