Maya.

Today, he had been sleeping for a week and a half. I decided to check on him and check his weight. No loss of weight.
I also gave him some water which he accepted. Then he curled up and went back to sleep on me. I warmed him up with my body heat. He only wants me to cuddle him and will wake up when I check on him. I know you shouldn't disturb them when they're sleeping. But, I wanted to make sure he wasn't losing weight and wasn't dehydrated- being his age. He smiled at me after getting water.

The last few days have been hectic here and I wasn't able to get my guys out at bedtime (a HUGE taboo here lol) last night I got them out. Sinatra and Ruby were on me. Ruby kept getting between Sinatra and my chin and trying to push him back farther down. She finally wedged herself cross ways under my chin and blocked him.
They ABSOLUTELY miss us when we don't see them for a few days.

Sadly, his greens went bad today. He was looking for something to eat. I know how Romaine isn't a proper staple green for him. He ate a few bites of Romaine and drank some water off them. I'll be going to get him turnip greens today. He's basking under his lights today.

He drank water on his own - shallow plate on my kitchen counter. Not a full bath. Just sat with his head lowered into a very shallow pool of water. I didn't disturb him, but kept an eye on him while he drank. I started to remove some of the water just in case.
Then he moved away on his own. I let him sit on the counter after drinking and observed him for a few minutes to make sure he didn't aspirate or made a move to 'cough up' water. I felt he was needing to drink after such a long time asleep. I'm sure that will help move things too.

They can't really cough the way we do, it's extremely hard for them to expel the water if they do aspirate, thats why it's important to get them nose down asap if it happens. (Just an FYI for just in case, it could be the difference in life and death)

It happened once. I'm more careful. He was very slow when he drank. I didn't want to pick him up while he was drinking because I didn't want to him open his glottis to breathe and get water in his lungs. I let him sit there for a few minutes to watch him. When he showed no signs of aspirating and anything, I gently picked him up and set him under his heat lamp. I watched him for 15-20 minutes longer. He was alright. Now, he's cuddled, snuggled up asleep on me.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
