Mating season

Hey guys, Im posting a question on behalf of my friend!

She has two beardies, a 2 yr old male and a recently 1 yr old female. They are housed in different tanks but in the same room, which has never been an issue until now. Since her female turned a year old, just in the last week her male has been exhibiting mating signs for her. They were enjoying some UVB on the window sill when he went and tried to mate with her. Mom broke it up very quickly and since then, hes been head bobbing and black bearding at the female.

She was just wondering if theres just a certain time (like spring time) that hes going crazy from the hormones or if hes going to continue acting like this while he can still see the female. She is definitely willing to relocate into a different room if thats what it takes but likes her current set up. Thanks!!

In for a torrid few months until his and her hormone settle back to normal levels .... keep the pair separated and never allow her out when he's out , he'll be ontop of her like greased lightning !!

It's OK if they can see each other (with glass inbetween them) , the armwaves and headnods from the girls (when flirting) and the head nods and glass surfing wont harm them , though he might get a bit frustrated and start doing unspeakable things to shoes, socks, peoples feet, soft and hard toys, cushions etc while he's megahorny.

Trust me --- you will survive this and it's perfectly normal beardie behavior.

BTW she's way too young to be allowed to mate at her age.

I suggest placing the tanks in a rack type arrange so his tank is ontop of her's and this way they wont be able to see each other all day - is stressful to the girl to see a hormonal boy continuously glass surfing and headnodding / headbanging and blackbearding at her.
This way she will only see him when he is taken out for fun time and floor time when he's likely to pay her a visit and want to "chat her up" , and she'll either play it cool ( play hard to get ) or she'll flirt with him by head nodding back and arm waving and generally showing she's interested.
Consider the glass sides of her tank her chastidy belt.

Thanks for the input! She was wondering if he was going to act like a j e r k (weirdly that got censored?) forever (her words, not mine haha). She definitely doesnt want to mate them, so no babies here! They are diagonal from each other, so they cant see each other TOO wel but now that hes realized theres a lady in the house, hes going a little hormone crazy.

Thanks again!!

Actually, when we had similar aged male and female beardies, it was very humorous to watch their body language and behaviours when spring sprung.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
