Mason Jar Salads?

Anybody ever try mason jar salads? I saw it on Facebook (I think) as an idea for my lunches, and thought 'why not try it for Sidney?'

So yesterday morning when I was making his salad, I made three more in mason jars. Supposedly they stay incredibly fresh for at least five days. I just tried yellow pepper, butternut squash cubes and spring mix.

If the day three salad is still fresh, this will solve my concerns about when I leave him home with a sitter for a few days!

Wondering if anyone else does this?

Let us know how it works for you! It would give a good trick to have

I've made salads in single serving tupperwares for when we go on trips (the shallow ones that can serves as bowls) and they stay pretty fresh but I not sure its any more fresh than when I use one big Tupperware.

Day three salad was still fresh! Makes me happy! AND he just walked over to it and ate three big bites of it after a nap! That's huge for him because he's a spoiled eater! (Will usually only eat salad if I hand feed him which I've really tried to stop doing.

Will do this again with 5 jars and more chunks of veggies in them. Yippee!

That's a good trick! I'll have to test that out as well. You didn't run into any problems with moisture trapped in the jar with the greens?

No and the Blog post I got the idea from kept raving about the freshness after five days!
