margaret wants hand fed all the time?

she wont hunt she just lies there waiting for me to feed her! and when i dont, she stares me down and waves [she is a waving fool] i know it means she is docile but she does it to me her human? her brother is exactly opposite. anyone else having this issue? she also is my therapy dragon, i use her as a ambassador at several pet stores. i am a traveling nutritionist.

Harley is the same way most of the time minus the arm waving. She just gives me the stinkeye until I give her dubias. She will sometimes not eat them from my hand and wants me to throw em on the floor and she will chase them but most of the time, she wants to be Queen Sheba plucking grapes off my hand :lol:

Yup. My baby, Nucky only seems to want to eat from my feeding tweezers-- sometimes he'll chase a cricket if it doesn't go far. Doesn't touch his veggie/fruit bowl, but will eat the spaghetti squash if I hand feed it to him... Wouldn't mind advice on training him out of it.

Absolutely! My boy is about 8 months now and he was on strike for weeks...so naturally I started supplementing by syringing his carnivor care/babyfood slurry...turns out he just wanted to be creative.

He's eating better than he has in months and all because my husband literally walks his dubia between his finger tips over to Batman...and he eats. Every time.

They can get us to do just about anything, it's why we are "beardie slaves" after all

i know i feel like a slave and worry wort! but there is a certain charisma. and i wave back to her fingers spread and real slow, she responds to that.. but they are both [patrick and margaret ] off crickets completely. they only want super worms and butter worms.any suggestions? i live in the northeast.

Hmmm...how old are they? Length from tip of snout to tip of tail? Housed separately?

I personally wouldn't go with supers if they're babies. Butters are WONDERFUL! We have a dubia roach colony...very healthy, much more nutritious than crickets, they're quiet, no smell, low maintenance, and can't escape the appropriate feeding bowl (though clearly they like be hand fed) but also won't escape their tub. My hubby hand feeds the dubia and butters are honestly the only other live feeder he will eat. Silkworms are great, calci/repti/Phoenix worms are great but don't get very large before becoming those pesky flies.

You'd save SO much money ordering online as well. I hope you go that route. Batman's favorite has always been his dubia. Basically never looked back

My girl is the same way, hand fed only, with the exception of her daily salad, which she eats at her leisure. Spoiled YES, but optimistically we know EXACTLY how much they are/are not eating. :wink:

It's funny because our female basically will only eat if she can chase it down and prefers if no one is looking. While Apollo, my male just sits up on his rock waiting to be served by hand. Typical male! Juuuuust kidding.
