I'm looking into purchasing a dragon and I'm getting different prices based off the fact if the dragon is male or female . Any reason for this ? I've seen the females are cheaper than the males even if they are of the same morph.
I'm not 100%why that is? Most I've seen are around the same price, however I've noticed some breeders do seem to set males at a higher price. Females can lay eggs which requires more care than a male who obviously will not lay eggs. My guess is that this is a big reason why males could be priced higher. I know I wanted a male for this very reason. However I ended up getting a female (thought she was a he until later down the road) but now I wouldn't trade her for anything. She's a sweetheart. Have not had to deal with eggs yet but I just did research so when/if the time comes I'll be prepared.
Most breeders of reptiles do charge more for females. Its due to the fact they can lay eggs and produce babies. But bearded dragons are so prevalent I would not pay extra for a female. Babies are a dime a dozen, its not like the breeders are producing rare reptiles.
