Wow what an eater! His tummy was pretty full when we picked him up from Tom's so yesterday he only had a few crickets. However, today he munched down I bet 30 crickets plus some collards. He's quite the little eater and pooper. His stress marks seem to lighten up a bit when handled and now that he's just about done sheeding he is beautiful! I'm still a nervous wreck and always worrying, obsessing! Once he gets more acclimated, I'll post more pictures! :D

Wow, we've been so busy. Loui has been gaining a lot of weight. He last weighed in at 107 grams and he's not even 3 months old yet. He's one of Tom's Valentine's babies and boy does he live by the name of "pooper".

I'll post some pictures after this week (I've got finals due all this week so I'm pretty swamped).

Loui loves eating his crickets right out of a ziplock bag! Sometimes he'll even hunt the ones that "get away". He's so pudgy and cute. Unfortunately, I have to take a break from holding him :( because of my recent break out with dysdrotic eczema. Now Colin (my son) has to help out with the feedings more which is a good thing.

To be continued... :D

Okay, I finally got pictures! I'm not the best photographer and my computer is super slow, but here we go:

Here is a picture of Luther eating his salad:

I was concerned Luther was not getting enough UVB with his UVB on top of the screen and afraid some of it was getting blocked from the dome of his basking spot:

So I had my wonderful hubby mount the UVB light fixture on the inside of Luther's 40 gallon tank. Luther is still adjusting and seemed a little stressed today with the fixture being on the inside. Hopefully he'll be more comfortable tomorrow with it!

Computer/photobucket acting up tonight, so I better let this be the last one:
Our little bathing "woofy" -- I have a lot of nicknames for Luther - Loui, wuther - and yes "woofy". My family thinks I'm nuts! :blob5:

Hope these took and you enjoy!

Loui is gorgeous :)
Don't worry my family thinks I'm nuts too! My dad lives with us and he makes fun of me all the time because he always walks in on me talking to the animals or just sitting and staring at Samson't viv. My kids talk to the animals too so they don't think I'm that crazy!! I loved the pictures of Loui!! :)

Has anyone else heard about UVB light mount changes causing stress to beardie? Luther called it quits today at 4:30 p.m. Ever since the UVB 24" bulb has been mounted (see above picture) inside his tank, he seems to be stressed out. Maybe I should go back to the original arrangement above screen. Any ideas anyone????

Well, the hammock is actually off to the right of the UVB by about 6 inches. He seems like he hangs out on hammock in an attempt to get away from direct exposure to the UVB since it is not directly under the UVB like his basking platform (bricks). Also, he seems to look up more (like he's looking out the window that used to be blocked by the UVB hood). I'm wondering if the sight of tree movement, birds flying could be upsetting him? I think tomorrow I'll keep the curtains closed just to see.

Ever since I made a little "hide-a-way cave" Loui has become very lazy. Tonight he turned in before 7:00 PM right when I like to play with him. Since his eyes were still open, I just had to "interrupt" and picked him up and he almost felt limp he was so relaxed. He layed on my belly for about 20 minutes before he even moved, then walked around my son's bed for a while, walked down and jumped to the floor, went to the book shelf and scratched and turned in again. I felt terrible I had to "interrupt" him again and put him back in his viv so he could go to sleep in peace. This was around 7:40 PM? I'm wondering if having the UVB inside his tank could have anything to do with this out of the ordinary behavior. :?

Okay, so Luther's nick names seem to keep changing. In the beginning it was "Loui". Now he is more commonly called "Woofy" because he "woofs" down so much food and is as expensive as a dog. Today is his 4 month B'Day (Tom's Valentine hatchling) and he weighed in at over 200 grams. My father-in-law is building him an outside enclosure so he can get some real outdoor rays. I'll post pictures once its finished :)

Here is a question I have: the weather in Maryland has been averaging lately 85-90 degrees (air) and 50+% humidity. Is the high humidity a concern for a beardie's health? His enclosure is 4 ft. long x 2 ft. wide x 2 ft high, made of wood. I hear 2 hours a couple times a week is a beneficial.

Thanks for any incite from you more experienced beardie lovers.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
