Lost my beardie 2.5 year old male

Hello,
I have had the most amazing bearded dragon, Morti, since he was a ?. He sleeps w me and my daughter at night and is super healthy. BUT, on 12/17/16 at 9:40am while the sun was shining and the weather was about 73, Morti disappeared. And the weather turned to a very cold night of 30 degrees.

I found this site when looking for help on finding a lost Bearded Dragon. I have put out crickets, have 3 hot spots outside of the doors and have carefully removed furniture and added everything back piece by piece.

My biggest fear is that the neighborhood cat might have got him. If he does not return soon, I fear the low temperatures will kill him.

I have stayed home for 2 weeks looking for Morti. I posted flyers and have offered $350 reward. I am devastated.

I have contacted people with dogs who track animals but they can't track a reptile. If anyone knows if a dog which can track reptiles, please let me know.

Additionally, - neighbor will loan a bearded dragon so I can give her baby attention and hopefully get Morti to come back. We have never had this happen before. And all security cameras point to him still being indoors.

If you have any ideas or helpful advice, please let me know. He has been gone for nearly 2 weeks. I know they can live about 2 months when brumating. But I want our sweet Morti back.

Please let me know if you have additional help or a tracking dog. Nancy

He disappeared from his tank? At night or? What were the circumstances around the disappearance?

I do hope you can find him and that he's simply snuggled up somewhere inside.

He was in the living room basking on a sunny spot. But he kept running back into my room.

We have left him out so many days while we are here. And this is the first time he simply disappeared.

His food is out, and his heat lamps are outside. He always sleeps with us, and I am so worried.

Have you had to entice a sleepy brimating boy back?

Chances are he's curled up under a bed, or under the lounge, behind the fridge, behind some furniture, even inside the lounge if it's hollow and accessable.
He'll be somewhere dark and quiet inside the house unless someone accidentially let him outside.

I'd keep on looking inside the house.

So to be clear, he is lost outside, which means that a door was open and you think he might have slipped outside ? Or he is in the house ?

Hello,

Yes, was he lost inside of the house, or did he somehow get outside of the house?

If he's inside, he'll be fine and will eventually be found or show up.

BUT if he's lost outside and it's snowing / blizzard/ subzero temperatures he's dead unless he's found a warm spot that's protected from the extremes and stay warm all the time.

DO NOT LOSE HOPE

I have lost a bearded dragon before many meters away near a lake. The neighborhood is littered with cats and there is even a horse farm nearby. He could've been eaten by the hawks, owls, raccoons, and oppossums that are abundant in my backyard. He lasted a whole night outside. I was extremely devastated and almost gave up. The next day in the afternoon, I found him by on my back porch, nearly on the sliding doors. If you did not lose him far, there is a very good chance he will find his way back. Bearded dragons are great at finding their territory.

Thank you for all of the support. It has been 21 days since Morti disappeared. I stayed home through the holidays hoping and praying he would show up. I have had infrared lights and foods in the back yard and garage in case he went outside.

I have unpacked and refolded any storage items in case he decided to crawl into something

It is below freezing. And even though he was perfectly healthy and had fat stores, his personality does not match the situation. He would follow me to rooms and loved to snuggle. He was social and such a wonderful boy.

I have not cried yet because I dont want to accept that he is gone. I want him to come home. We even borrowed a female bearded dragon to hopefully encourage him to return.

Morti deserves to have a long life. He was the happiest guy out there. Now he is missing. And I know there is a chance he is ok, but the weather and the days passing without a sign is getting to me. I wake up in the middle of the night wondering if he is snuggle down somewhere and if he is safe. I hear a noise and I get up and run to find the source, hoping it is him.

I removed all furniture and items from each room and then rebuilt beds and re packed bins.

I used a borescope to see inside appliances after pulling them out.

I don't know if he is brumating inside. It would be his first time. But I have never lost him before and I am afraid for him.

He is the most wonderful beardie. Such personally. And I don't know how to post photos here. But if I did, you would see how amazing he is.

I love and miss you Morti-pie. Please be safe and warm

Such lovely pictures :)

I think we are all a but confused as to what happened. He was inside and then you walked out of a room and when he came back he was gone? Were any windows or doors open that make you think he got outside? Do you have lamps set up inside the house to try and entice him out? You said he was basking in the living room and ran into your room. Is that where you lost him, in your room? If no windows or doors were open, I would think he HAS to still be in the house somewhere. As long as you keep your house warm above 70, he should be fine, especially if he is brumating. He'll come out again when he's hungry.

The back door and the door into the garage were open. He has never 'made a run for it' before, but he could have escaped.

The back yard and garage have security cameras that only cover about 60% of where he could have gone. I have set up two heat centers with food and those have been on since 12/17.

I also reviewed footage for evidence of predators entering the back yard and saw nothing. But the garage door is not 100% visible, only 75%.

It is snowing today. In Dallas Texas.

If he was outside, would he choose to lay low and bury himself of seek warmth? I don't know what is in their nature. Also, we had a snake about 30 years ago. The snake climbed into the oven to get to the gas pilot light. I don't know if Morti would behave that way. I have never seen him look for a heat source before.

Please send warmth and love to Morti, wherever he is. He has never been without us over his lifetime since we brought him home.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
