Well, currently by beardie's in brumation so not an emergency situation at all. But probably the best time to get this sorted out.
She's currently in a 48"L x 16"W x 18"H glass aquarium, and i don't keep a lid on it. I have a 100W Powersun MVB in her basking area and a regular household bulb on the other end of her tank.
I'm trying to get the basking area at a temp of 90 degrees but can't really get it that low and keep the bulb within so many inches of her (12"?). I have a 125W Megaray that i've put on the back burner for now & using the 100W but it still gets hotter than 90deg. I have to back them both farther away than i think it should be to get the 90 deg temp, especially in the summer.
How far away should the light be, or how close? Is it different for different wattages? Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you solve it?
Thanks,
Florrie
